"Hotel and staff are lovely. Ideal if you have a car. Thankful for free shuttle bus to station if you haven’t. Not much to do / see immediately around the hotel. But great location for seeing the bamboo forest. "

"Close to bamboo forest, being first time in Japan, the meaning of adults only is different than at resorts, but l was surprised by the comfort and the shuttle service provided. And the breakfast sandwiches were delicious. "

"It is a 20 min taxi drive out of kyoto which costs around 5,000 yen. The properly is a very old building. However because it is a traditional ryokan, it fits that image and hence it's fine. Do include the full board option where they take you to a riverside location 5 min away on a shuttle bus. That location is spectacular for a kaseki meal.
