Stayed on our last night in Sri Lanka as a stopover on the way to the airport. Can't remember exactly but it's about a 20 min drive. Hence can't comment on the local area and what's around. The hotel however is wonderful. Old colonial building tastefully renovated with great attention to detail. Food was also very good and reasonably priced. A real bit of luxury in great grounds. Would certainly recommend it. Just as a side note - a made an error while booking the hotel, Hotels.com were less...

The hotel was absolutely incredible. Its surroundings were beautiful. We stayed in the Courtyard Suite and it was huge. The staff made the stay so special, and food was stunning! One of the best hotels we’ve stayed at! Thank you!

Perfect stay with great hosts Rooms are clean and quite new with on suite bathroom. I can’t complain about anything really it was a good stay. Breakfast was great and the hosts collected us from the airport for 1500 rp that was cheaper then a local taxi and it’s nice to have someone to collect us after a long flight with no fuss. Thanks for looking after us :))) Defo recommend 5*

Staff's are very friendly and helpful.Rooms are very spacious and clean

The hotel Nippon was lovely. One of the old type hotels which has been refurbished. The lounge area was nice, lift was clean, staff helpful. The room was average size bed was comfortable. The view from the window wasnt appealing as it was residential and area not that good. However a 3 minute walk from the hotel took you to beautiful gardens, temples etc.
