Note this review is coming from an American tourist (and spouse) that are in our early 50s and loved spending a relaxing week in Amsterdam. Absolutely 5 out of 5 stars for our experience at this hotel. Location is PERFECT - super close to everything yet VERY quiet and away from the craziness. Absolutely was an exceptional stay. ALL staff from the doorman to check-in were excellent, and the breakfast staff was truly the best staff I have ever seen. Precious was so friendly and helpful and by the end of our stay anticipated our every need. The lady of Italian heritage could not have been better. And the hostess (I believe of Asian descent) was completely top notch and made us feel like we were family. The rooms are very nice, super clean, and have the best sound insulation I have ever experienced in a hotel. The AC works great if you like it cold at night, the showers are awesome and have great hot water, and the TV has adequate channels in English to keep up with the news at night. Not a complaint at all, but my only "FYI" is that the 5 star hotel rating is not quite equivalent to other 4 and 5 star properties I have stayed at in Asia and North America. However, in Amsterdam there are a number of supposedly 3 star properties that look like places I would never even consider staying, so know you are staying at one of the nicest hotels in the city. Anyway, the experience and my happiness level (AND factoring in the value) is a STRONG 5 out of 5.
The hotel was nicely located, close to the shopping area without being right there. It is a corner property with great views of the canals. The corner room we stayed in was very spacious and luxurious with high ceilings and big windows. Would definitely stay here again.
Maurice and Bert were extra helpful in getting us and our dog checked and and out and we really appreciate them. What a gorgeous and comfortable hotel. We'll be back. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.
close to flower market, 9 streets and tram stops to museums etc. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. Recommended local attractions when asked but didn't otherwise try to influence choice of activities. Spacious room.
I really loved this hotel. I found out from the bellman it’s the oldest hotel in Amsterdam 1882! Amber at the front desk is impressive and qualified to work at a 5 star hotel. The housekeepers leave a new fresh flower in my bathroom daily. Nice touch! The canal view room is on the smaller side but a fantastic view. Conveniently located to everything but yet quiet enough. I might even extend my stay one more night. I highly recommended this hotel!
