From the moment we arrived we felt pampered. Valet parking attendents were friendly, very efficient and we didn't have to go to the main lobby to check-in as there was a check-in desk as soon as your walked into the hotel after leaving our car with the valet.
Check-in was fast and not only did we get a room upgrade to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, we received 4 upgrades. We also received a bottle of champagne (Prosecco) and some Nanaimo bars in our room to celebrate. Such a great touch and so much appreciated.
We found every single person who worked at the Shangri-la to be people focused and focused on ensuring our stay was meeting, if not exceeding our expectations. They exceeded our expectations in all cases but one, the restaurant Carlino.
Carlion is a Michelin recommended restaurant so we had reserved a table for our celebartion. We were seated promptly, our server was duly attentive. He recommended wine and the pasta special for our entree. We shared a salad to start and it was delicious. The pasta special however was terrible. Neither of us liked it all. Our server said we could order something different which we did. Our second entrees, were only just okay. Very disappointing. We would not eat at Carlino again.
The hotel is fantastic and we do highly recommend it.
