“The Jane - New York's finest....”

Quirky, full of character and superb location for the West Village, short walk to the subway and local bars and shops. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, we even managed to crash a private party in the Ballroom, which is itself very special, which whilst staying open until 4am didn't spoil our visit at all. If you're expecting large bedrooms in a soulless corporate hotel, this is NOT the place for you. Excellent value and we will definitely be returning.

“Good value for money”

The cabins are excellent value for money. They are obviously small but the interior design is clever to optimise storage space. The free wireless internet also worked fine. Communal bathrooms were clean and in good condition. Once the restaurant is open on the ground floor, it should be even better (although now there are restaurants and bagel shops in the neighbourhood).

“Great Budget Hotel/Hostel.”

Really thought this was a great find. It's cheap so don't expect 5* luxury but for that it's all beautifully clean and well done. The rooms/cabins are small but you don't need much if you are out & about sight seeing in NY. The shared bathrooms where always spotless and never overcrowded. The free wi-fi is great. There is a really nice little bar/bistro on the ground floor. I did have an inside courtyard facing room which was a little hot & stuffy but possibly quieter than one of the out side face rooms. Great location near Chelsea for bars, restaurants, cafes etc. Most off all the staff were great - so friendly and relaxed & helpful with directions etc. Would go back and would be perfect in cooler winter months.

“My third stay in this hotel”

This was my third stay at The Jane. I can't afford Midtown prices now, so The Jane is my first port of call when searching for somewhere to stay in New York. Over the last 3 years I've seen the improvements they've made at The Jane; a new resturant and since my last stay new elevators. The hotel is small and the rooms are teensy tiny but enough for your stay. The use of storage space is genuis and you have all you need in the room. The shared bathroom facilities have never been a problem - I've never waited to use the shower or the loo. The staff are super friendly, and always willing to accomodate any request. The neighbourhood is quiet and a little out of the way but Midtown is only two subway stops away (14th Street A,C,E stop is 5 mins walk). Around the hotel you have a couple of Starbucks, cafes, resturants, shops and the Magnolia Bakery is a 5 min walk. Lovely - I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

“Brilliant value for money, I wouldn't stay anywhere else”

Second time I've stayed in The Jane, and as I expected was a very pleasant stay. All the staff are extremely friendly, and nothing is too much trouble they are always happy to help. The place is clean and it's never a problem accessing the communal bathroom and toilet facilities - I have never waited to use them during either stay here. One issue was the heating - you can't control the central heating and it was too much - nice that they wanted to make sure we were warm when the temps plummeted to minus figures but you don't need it that high in those small rooms! I slept with the window wide open even though it was about -10 outside, although at least this way I got some fresh air! You really can't beat The Jane for value - I can't afford to stay in Midtown anymore and I wouldn't want to. Since my last stay The Jane has added a resturant on the groung floor which is lovely. 14th Street subway is 5 mins walk, and only a couple of stops from midtown. No reason to stay anywhere else really!

“Better than I expected. Clean Room. Friendly Staff. Safe District.”

There are mixed reviews about this place. I'm really pleased I stayed. The rooms are quite small but big enough for my 6ft 3in frame. In anycase all I planned on doing was sleeping there! Rooms have a handy safe and clever storage areas above and below the bed. Room had a great flat screen TV with DVD slot. Shared wash rooms were clean. They supply a towel ,dressing gown and flip flops. The latter break very easily so bring your own or ask the cheerful staff for some spares.

“Very Good”

The Jane had an excellent location with a wide selection of eating options close by, whilst a short distance from the subway everything was still within easy reach. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms had everything that a solo traveller requires. The toilets and showers were cleaned regularly and were always available to use without queues. The adjoining cafe and bar were also excellent additional features.

“I want to keep this place secret!”

My first stay at thishotel, encouraged because it's one of the few that is reasonable for a solo traveller. Wasn't sure about the location when i booked, but now a complete convert! Staff fabulously friendly, the rooms ingeniously designed and cosy (in a nice way), bathrooms clean and great drenching showers! The cafe was lovely too, great atmosphere, I'll be back.

“Highly Recommended”

Can't be beaten for the price! Excellent location in the trendy West Village - just a few stops on the Subway to downtowb but there's loads going on in the immediate neighbourhood too. I didn't have any trouble with the noise or heat that other reviewers mention. The rooms are (as advertised) small but very clean and comfortable. The staff are great and I felt very safe. You must walk the High Line Park when you're here - it's about two blocks from the hotel - you can see NYC in a total different light!
