That Expedia is still listing Hotel Newton as a rental, and THE FACT THAT IT IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATION UNTIL LATE 2023, is ridiculous. I was not informed of this when I made my January reservation in early December.
We arrived at 10pm to be told the hotel was close and that we were being sent somewhere elses, and that expedia didn't even took the time to notified us. Also had to pay more money
This property is being used for migrants and not the general public

I called the day of our reservation to confirm it and let them know we would be arriving late. I was told that the hotel was closed and that they had arranged for a different hotel for us to stay at. I’m glad I called since they did not send any notification through text message, email, or phone call. The new hotel was inconveniently in the Times Square area instead of the Upper West Side. It required a change of our plans, including canceling the prepaid parking place and finding another place to park that was much more expensive. Thank goodness we didn’t find this out if we got to a closed up hotel late at night.

The Hotel Newton was shut down and I was not notified in advance that I would be moved. It was a huge inconvenience and very frustrating. The hotel I was sent to was a great location but very outdated. Room didn’t have shades and the bed squeaked.
Perfect location for us in the Upper West Side and a couple of blocks from Central Park. Handy subway station and Manhattan Diner just a few steps away too. Room was more than adequate for our needs and staff very friendly too.
Very clean and comfortable hotel in a great location in NYC. Only issue was room was quite hot in December, even though radiator was off. We opened the window and used the air conditioner from time to time. Area is safe with a ton of restaurants and other essentials like drug stores. Excellent bagel place and Paris themed bakery down the street.

This is a decent older property. The windows and beds could use updating. The men at the front desk were pleasant and the neighborhood felt safe. It is right off of a subway stop.

The hotel was very clean and cosy and had easy access to nearby restaurants and transportation, the shower had hot water and the a/c was easy to control, staff was very friendly and attentive, checking in and out was a breeze, I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again :)

Horrible mattress that sags in the middle, like sleeping on the rim of a volcano. It should have replaced years ago. Assigned the smallest room on the floor despite no other guests spotted in hotel. And to think i stay here often. Time to rethink my choice of NYC hotel.

Stay was mediocre at best.
The stay wasnt bad at all. I went to visit NYC on a solo trip for the weekend, so the room served its purpose. There were a few issues though. I reserved the room on this site for $223 I believe. When I got to the hotel, I was charged a extra I think $60 each night and was told that was for taxes. Not happy about that at all. The bed in the room is really uncomfortable. My back was hurting and I didnt sleep well at all. The AC in the room needs to be fixed. I slept on top of the covers because I was so hot.

Beds were hard, window unit blocked all view and kept black out curtains from closing if you wanted to block out light. Hot water takes a good 10 mins to start

Loved the location- across the St from the subway, and in a great neighborhood! The staff was warm and welcoming! Loved them! Room was a good size for NYC. Very clean and comfortable. We could control temp from the e room, which is not always the case in older buildings. We’ll be back!

TINY room. Broken desk lamp with stained lampshade, trash left on room floor. Lumpy mattress. No working power outlet in bathroom. Scratchy toilet paper. Desk chair immovable from under desk. Chipped furniture. Damaged wallpaper. Air shaft view, zero light reaches room interior. Very sketchy for $220 a night. It's a barely adequate place to crash, not someplace to relax or be comfortable.

Tried to check in at 11:00 but was told rooms not ready. Meanwhile others were giving rooms with no wait the entire time we waited !?!?? Heat was too high and could not turn down. Other than that it was great. Held our luggage before and after check in/out. Very helpful. Very close to subway. Would stay again.

The hotel is across the street from a subway stop which makes it super convenient. Wonderful safe neighborhood just two blocks from Central Park. The hotel is dates but very clean and staff are so nice. Lots is great restaurants within a few blocks. Very quiet at night which is a nice break from the loudness of midtown. We will return to this hotel.

The hotel put a sticker on the parking ticket, but the parking facility didn’t honor the discount as promised. It was confusing as the garage attendant didn’t speak English. Disappointing after what seemed was going to be a reasonably priced stay that got expensive in a hurry.
