“Comfort at the Shalimar”

I stayed at the Shalimar because of its proximity to points of interest which I wanted to see in Mumbai e.g. Ghandi House; Hanging Gardens; Jain Temple. All were within walking distance which provided me with a street experience. The hotel and its staff were welcoming and I found my single room to be just fine as I was out most of the day sightseeing. I did eat at the hotel and again the restaurant food was good and its staff were very helpful.

“Central and reasonable value”

First time to Mumbai. Quality of hotel good. Clean and comfortable without being extravagent ie. fine dining, swimming pool, spa etc. Rooms at top a reasonably quiet considering busy road outside not sure I would like to be on lower floors. Avoid the telephone - very high charges. Was put in small single bed room but complained and moved to room with Queen which is what expected - so dont take no for an answer. Reception didnt post some packages I asked and someone was drilling at midnight which prompty stopped when I complained hence the 3 rating. If it was not for these two incidents I would have had no complaints. The location seems central if you need to get around ie 90 minutes or less for most places in business area. If looking for safe, clean, comfortable mid range hotel without bells and whistles this will be fine.
