The Avenue Hotel is close to the Central Station which made it very easy to get around Amsterdam. It is within walking distance to many local attractions as well as the river cruise ship we were getting on. The breakfast offered (for a fee) was excellent. The room was clean, quiet and had a comfortable bed.

Hotel was in a fantastic location, the room was soacyand clean just a shame there was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. We would stay here again though.

Rough start checking in. Booked a three bed room, expected what was in the picture online. They gave us a room in the basement (half below street level) with door opening to outside. Room was bare bones and looked nothing like picture. Was absolutely horrible. Room 099 - stay away from it! Went back to the front desk and they did rectify it immediately and gave us the correct room. Why they would put us in that room is beyond me. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great (7-10am) Water was pressure good and lots of hot water. Beds were comfortable with nice bedding. Hotel is a typical European city hotel. Would I stay there again? Yes. Super convenient location!

Booked and paid for a deluxe suite, given a family room in the roof. They claimed it was an upgrade, can't believe that. Wish i had complained sooner.

We were surprised at how large the room was for being a city hotel. A nice wardrobe with shelves worked well for 3 ladies with too much stuff. Tram stop outside the door. A 5-7 minute walk from central station. Our room had a small sink and hot plate which we never used. Many dining and shopping options very close by. We paid for the buffet breakfast and we were pleased with the options. Our last morning we had to catch a train and the staff made us up takeaway breakfast.

The bedroom was small. It was very well cleaned every day with fresh towels as needed. Front of house staff were excellent as were the breakfast room staff. The hotel is really well situated with just a five minute walk to Central Station for train, metro, bus, boat trips etc. Plenty of eating places nearby.

Breakfast was disappointing and not worth the price. Walkable to many sights and central station. 4 tram lines stop right in front of hotel. Numerous restaurants within a stones throw as well as shops.

Only good for location...nothing else
Awful hotel. Paid £100+ a night for poor service. Where to start? Hotel could do with updating. Double room very small but just about adequate. Could do with refurbishment. No toilet rolls replaced the next day. Tea/coffee refills not done. Wi-fi poor, it is intermittent drops put quite often. Very basic hotel but not worth it. Found the young male members of staff at reception desk (work mornings) to be very unhelpful and rude. The dark haired lady on the desk was very nice, polite and helpful. Positive is it is ideal location..everything is nearby.

Check with the hotel re ongoing work.
Renovation work currently going on as rooms are being upgraded. Consequently there is some noise during the day and various materials left in corridors. That said, the room and service was fine.

The moment we walked in, we already weren’t too impressed with the hotel. Although it was a cheap affordable price, I have stayed at other locations for cheaper and felt like I was at a 5 star hotel. Checked the bed for bed bugs and found a red stain under the sheets that was not cleaned. Area is ideal but would not stay again

Room was small but its all you need as its just a base. Hotel was kept clean and tidy and staff were very helpful, i would stay here again

Great location, 7 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station and short walk to Dam square and all shops, Staff was very helpful as radiator wasn't working and they gave us their heater. Breakfast was lovely and would stay here again.

Fine but dirty bathroom
The hotel was basic but adequate. But my bathroom toilet hadn’t been flushed so I was greeted with someone else’s mess. Shower was a bit mouldy and there were hairs on my pillow. Not super clean.

The beds were not comfortable, but not only that when we look under the thin mattress top, there were lots of stains and black dots that look like bed bugs, we were extremely tired to look for another hotel. The location was great!

I booked this hotel for one night as I had a flight booked in the morning. It was a basic hotel and I guess you get what you paid for. Hotel charged me and friend a tourist tax on checking in. I was a little confused by this and would rather they include this in their rates on online. I was happy to pay this but paid regardless. My friend was Dutch and she was also charged a tourist tax even though he’s a Dutch national. Overall it was an ok hotel very close to the central station etc.
