The Angel Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel didn't look like much from the outside but once entering the main door, it was stunning. Very spacious main area. The rooms were nice, bedding clean. The only issues we had was the water from the toilet would rise when you use it. The lift wouldn't allow us to get out at the floor we needed so we had to take the stairs with our cases but we're young and reasonably healthy so it wasn't a huge problem. The windows in our room didn't open and it did get quite warm, luckily I brought a fan with me. I would 100 percent stay at this hotel again when visiting Cardiff. Staff were friendly and helpful, we could see the castle from our room."

"Good place for a mid budget stay, fairly close to the centre (15 mins walk from station) , friendly reception and cafe staff, clean comfortable rooms (one bedside light not working Rm 257) a nice clean swimming pool and spa set up. Popular with families but not chaotic. We had breakfast outside - nice cafe in Trade Street 10 mins away. If you have time do a circuit walking the local ex industrial canals outside - part of old Cardiff Bay’s coal history."

"It was a great stay, I have stayed at the Clayton Hotel many times. Front of house was great and the manager was great and really welcoming. Also there are many place you can get to that is in walking distance, there are so many restaurants and site seeing that it's so easy to get to. Breakfast is fantastic and so many choices to suit everyone. The room are great."

"Staff at this hotel are friendly, helpful and create a truely homely feel. The little welcome gift is lovely and the rooms are clean and tidy and well equipped. Slightly dated bathrooms with fixed show heads and no walk in showers but they are clean and have all that is required. Bar and restaurant is very good with great staff and food is good quality. Limited to do nearby but a large car park and quiet. Could do with a swimming pool and leisure facilities to cope with local competition. Staff make this stay and allow you to forgive the modernisation of rooms"
