I never crossed paths with the operator. When we arrived, the office was locked and when we called the number, we were told that our room was just left unlocked with the key inside. The room was small and cramped, so you have to move furniture to walk from the bed to the bathroom. The bed is small, old, and uncomfortable. For one night in this hovel I paid almost three hundred dollars. There is certainly no nice patio like in that picture over there. It seems that the Birches Motel's business model is to put up fake pictures of a different location, charge you a fortune, and wait for you to drive out to the middle of nowhere before you realize you've been fooled. The owner doesn't mind doing this to you because she isn't in the office and won't have to look you in the eye. I am furious and will be seeking at least a partial refund. Don't stay here.
