This hotel is in a great location if you're visiting San Francisco to see a show at the Civic Center. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby.
One thing to watch out for: there is no front desk. You need an app to get into your room, and you should receive your check-in information before you arrive. Mine never came, and I had to make several phone calls before the problem was fixed.
Also, make sure you ask for the separate code to unlock the front door. If you don't have it, you could end up locked out late at night.
Small room and shared bathroom, but the location is great, and the price is reasonable for what you get. Definitely way better than staying in the Tenderloin, and not much more expensive.
What an absolutely wonderful stay!!! Everything from check in to cleanliness was perfect. Old and charming, clean and communicating, we absolutely adored our time here!
it's an old-world hotel (bathroom down the hall) that has somehow preserved some of its charm. I've stayed many times over the years and always found it and the nearby area safe.

Liked: Cleanliness
The room and facilities were very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. It reminded me of a very nice hostel. The only downside is the street noise from cars and partyers on the street. Ear plugs help.

Hard to beat the deal. Room solid/clean.
Not my normal style but for the money, great! Neighborhood is great. Park. Restaurants. Shops. Bars. Bakery. You can walk to the center of the city. It’s kind of upscale hostel/boarding house.
Very small rooms, but you pay for what you get. Amazing area in Hayes Valley with many things within walking distance. We were two women travelers and felt safe the entire 4 night stay here!
A great location for travertine city. Bare-bones, but not mush else is needed in that location. It’s a clean and comfortable room. The shared amenities don’t pose any issues. Only downside is lugging suitcases up the staircase but it’s easily manageable.
