We frequently stay at the Porto Vista as it is close to everything we like to do. we decided to bring our friends this time, and they did not have a great experience. they were given the wrong room, twice. I wish it would have been a better experience as we have really been praising this hotel.

Great location for visiting our family in Little Italy. Great front desk staff. CON: Spa/pool=spool wasn't hot enough. Dial for turning on jets broken. Stayed 5 nights and had to request maid service to specifically empty trash and change sheets. Then only did that single item requested. Very near airport so if plane noise bothers you, don't stay here.

Overall just what we needed for the weekend: close to our event, great general location, clean enough, and the other guests were friendly (probably in town for same event). Biggest downside is parking, but that is standard for this area of San Diego. We got lucky and found unrestricted street parking down the block. Receptionist wasn't helpful in even identifying a parking lot nearby. Room was fine, definitely not luxurious or anything, but we mostly just needed a place to lay our head and pregame.

The Porto Vista hotel is located in Little Italy in such a cute and central spot downtown. The hotel isn’t necessarily full of amazing views from your room, but I wasn’t in the room much! I felt like we were paying motel prices for a decent hotel. The front desk staff (Manny especially) were communicative, knowledgeable and sweet @ every interaction, from when I called to see about early check-in all the way to check out! Parking is hit or miss as it’s mostly metered street parking, so we sprung for valet for $45 a day. I recommend checking out the Piazza Della Famiglia (outdoor plaza with restaurants etc) nearby, as well as Bencotto, Monello (Italian restaurants with amazing pasta offerings), Salt & Straw (best ice cream EVER) and Waterfront Park for sight seeing. There are ample coffee shops, bars and restaurants in the surrounding area. I LOVED that the rooms had laminate mock wood flooring opposed to sticky overused carpeting! I took one star off because when I got on hands and knees to make sure I wasn’t leaving things behind, I noticed the bed skirts were FILTHY, definitely not our filth. Wash those puppies! Otherwise, a great stay and exactly what we needed!

We booked this place because of the location, and the website pictures looked nice! It's in little Italy, close to a lot of restaurants and things. But the property was kinda run down. Lots of broken fixtures, the furniture in the prized rooftop patio was in rough shape. Also, the website said the restaurant offered dinner until 10pm, but they actually shut down dinner before 9pm - so we had to door dash an order since we arrived around 8:30pm. The room was ok, but the floors were sticky, and the beds weren't very comfortable. And I never thought I would complain about too much water pressure, but the shower was borderline painful the pressure was so high on the warm setting. Luckily this was a less expensive hotel in the area, and it wasn't horrible, but the website and pictures are misleading.

Never again. They didn’t clean the room. No new towels. It’s a junk hotel and I never will come back again. The black lady on the desk it wasn’t a kind person. Sorry. Never again.
