A beautiful green city set in the mountains. Go to the Middle of the World and take the cable car to the top of the mountain. (Take a jacket! It's chilly up there and the view is spectacular.)

I had an expensive camera and was advised on three occasions by locals to use a taxi out side the main central area of the Old Town that included going to the Angel on the hill - in the main area there is a high presence of police so no issues.

Wear comfortable shoes and plan to walk up and down hill. A lot! The town is beautiful! Everyone is friendly. I felt completely safe the whole time even though several locals cautioned me to be mindful of pick pockets.

The city is high in the Andes, at 9-10,000 feet above sea level. I had a headache upon arrival from the elevation, but it went away by the second day. Expect a little shortness of breath.

Really nice city (soooooo cheap), great for walking with a couple of vegan restaurants, great weather, friendly people. The metro is a bargain travel option.
"The hotel is located practically at the airport. Hassle-free pick-up from the terminal and also at departures. Compared to other hotels in South America, the breakfast is very generous and varied. The pool is small, but perfect for relaxing after a long flight. Very friendly service, both in the hotel and in the restaurant. In the restaurant, you can choose from the daily buffet menu or order à la carte."
"Carolina Park across the road was great for walking and exercise, full of attractions for family fun. The Botanic gardens was lovely outing, beautiful, interesting display of native and exotic flora and a10 min. Walk across the street.
The staff were not only courteous and efficient, they went out of their way to accommodate my every need unexpectedly as I don’t speak Spanish. Thankfully several of them did.
The hotel is a few minutes walk to the metro which takes you to many tourist attractions, most of the places you will want to see around the city in just a few minutes. Great spot and you won’t be sorry to stay.
As a sole traveller, I ate at the hotel every night and breakfast. The breakfast buffet was extensive, with many healthy options available and the dinner menu was very good, nicely presented by the chef. AND the best margaritas I have had in Quito by far. Would happily revisit!"
"Mi experiencia fue muy grata! Ls atención siempre fue super personalizada. Me gustó mucho el servicio de taxis, los desayunos y la habitación en general "
