Transport yourself to another world as you experience world-class musicals, operas, comedy shows and plays in this exceptional performance venue.

Nestled among the many artistic venues in the cultural district of South Bank, The Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) is the most distinguished of them all. This hugely expansive area contains four separate performance spaces which accommodate a variety of shows including operas, ballets, musicals, orchestras, recitals and performers in theatre, dance and comedy.

Boasting state of the art performance spaces and production facilities, little wonder QPAC has had sell out shows including The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Chicago, Mamma Mia! Dirty Dancing and Les Misérables to name but a few.

The Lyric Theatre is the largest of the four halls accommodating 2,000 seated spectators. This space is generally used for large-scale productions such as operas, musicals and ballets. The Concert Hall holds 1,600 playing host to recitals and orchestras. The Playhouse is a venue designed for theatrical shows and dance troupes, accommodating 850. Lastly, the Cremorne Theatre is the most intimate venue of the four which offers its stage to comedy shows among other small productions.

If you fancy a few social drinks prior to the show, why not visit the wine bar where you can taste old and new world wines, complimented by a wonderful selection of tapas. Another option is to dine in comfort at the centre's Lyrebird restaurant. Ensure a relaxing experience by making a booking in advance and arriving early. If you don't have time for either of those options, make sure to pre-order drinks and snacks at the small bars in the foyer, which you can collect at the interval.

Located in the cultural hub of South Bank district, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre is easily accessible by foot, bus, train and car. It does have its own car park but spaces are pricey. All popular performances will require booking in advance however there are some free jazz sessions and other shows so keep an eye on the website for details.
