Traditionally a quiet urban suburb set in the foothills of the Andes, Pirque has grown to offer a variety of rural attractions, including one of Chile’s oldest wineries. Shop for handicrafts and watch cultural performances at an artisan’s village. Hike, ride on horseback or enjoy picnics in a picturesque nature reserve.
One of the main highlights of Pirque is the Concha y Toro Winery, which opened in 1883. Join a guided tour of the vineyards and pick grapes direct from the vines. Visit century-old cellars and sample award-winning wines, including Casillero del Diablo. Enjoy a similar tour and wine tasting at Haras de Pirque. Marvel at the views of the picturesque Maipo Valley and snowy mountain peaks from the grounds of both wineries.
Visit the suburb in April for the Fiesta del Vino de Pirque (Pirque Wine Festival). Sample the wines of well-known Chilean bodegas, try regional cuisine and watch concerts by local bands and musicians.

The Pirque suburb lies south of Santiago’s city centre, a 30-minute drive from Plaza de Armas. Pirque is easily accessible via public transportation. Take the metro to Plaza de Puente Alto stop, in the Puente Alto neighbourhood, and then catch a public bus or take a taxi to the attractions.
