"This was lovely place to stay - we were in the last two 'legs' of a 1300 mile road trip to Scotland (and back!) - possibly the best, as it matched all our needs for a quiet evening, in a beautifully-appointed, clean ensuite room, and a restful comfortable sleep! Our hosts, Mark & Paula were welcoming (tasty cookies!), quiet and unobtrusive (checking what bed configuration - king or twin - we wanted in advance), serving our preferred choice of tasty breakfasts at our room 's table & chairs.
Their directions were great and their off-road parking was just outside the back door. What more could any touring couple want for an overnight stay?"
"Outside is not much to look at but the interior is quite modern with a "boat house" feel to the restaurant. Room not the most spacious but adequate.
Breakfast was excellent with wide buffet choice and good quality.
Spa/ swimming pool is very good.
Over priced for the level of accommodation but the Lakes location contributes to the pricing."
"We arrived to a lovely friendly greeting from Suruchi, we were given a walk around of the property, offered information on things to do and places to go. We chose this as a central location that was dog friendly for the three of us to stay.
Nice location, nice property and the room was clean and tidy. Would definitely use this property again on another stay in the lakes.
Thank you for making our 4 night stay so memorable."
"We had a comfortable stay, and the location was very convenient for exploring the city. Although the room wasn't particularly large, it had been recently renovated, featured a double bed, and was clean, comfortable, and well suited to our short stay.
This is a straightforward, no-frills property with the essential amenities, and it met our expectations.
For international travellers, it's worth noting that air conditioning is not a standard feature in many UK hotels, so it's worth checking before booking if this is important to you. A fan is provided for warmer weather. Similarly, bar fridges are not commonly included in UK hotel rooms, so it's best not to expect one.
As the property is an older building, some noise transfer is to be expected. Sound carries along the corridors, and the timber floors do creak in places. During our stay, our sleep was occasionally interrupted by the fire door opening and closing, as it does not have a soft-close mechanism. This was more noticeable when other guests were moving through the corridor. A soft-close device or a small reminder encouraging guests to close the door quietly could help minimise noise.
There is also a bar, 1597, located next door within the property grounds. It offers a good selection of meals that we found to be delicious and reasonably priced, making it a convenient dining option."
"Food was good, bedroom lovely but exceptionally hot and only a small window Fire alarm evacuation in the middle of the night with no staff on site and a poor response time from staff at another hotel"
