Ringed necked parakeet
Black shouldered kite. An amazing bird that can hover mid air despite its size. This particular bird seem to have a limb missing . There seemed to be no impact of this on her routines and in fact I only noticed it in the photographs and didn't realise in the couple of hours I got to observe her in the habitat.
The classic "V formation" A method used by long migrating birds to reduce the drag of the wind. The tip of the V is where you face the most drag and the each bird behind the tip positions itself in a way where the force of air working against it reduces. They take the leading positions in round robin fashion and thus optimising the energy used in fighting the wind drag. Kind of resembles the tip of the arrow!
