COVID-19 may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't stifled our lust for exploring. Here are some tips on how to cope with travel's new challenges:

• Understand what rules and restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check before you lock in your flight.
• When you pass through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to lower it briefly to confirm your identity. Anyone refusing to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• To reduce the likelihood of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA agent.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for scanning.
• Place any personal items (like your phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA employee will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
