"This was our favourite hotel when it opened. Over the years we have seen it decrease in maintenance and much wear & tear. It is still the best in Port Hardy. Check-in is 4:00 pm precisely! And don’t ask if your room is available earlier. It is irritating when there is a room full of people waiting and someone walks in at 3:40 and they give them their key. it’s a one night stay for most guests who are here to catch a ferry here and there is lots of cleaning. The room smelt when we entered. We thought smoking but it was actually dirt smell from the wall a/c- heater. The elevator rugs are filthy. The pub is over priced with poor food quality. The TV is not a smart tv. It’s a low level tv with limited channels and no Netflix ability. On the positive side - the rooms are clean, the bedding & beds are very comfy and the indigenous products are first-rate (other than body gel should be in shower not body lotion)."
