My daughter and I recently returned from a 7 night stay. The Mitre House is everything we wanted. I read the reviews extensively before booking and we were prepared. The Mitre House is excellent value! - First and foremost the location can't be beat. The proximity of Paddington Station and Hyde Park is very convenient. - The breakfast was fantastic and the lovely staff were a delight each morning. It was so easy to eat a full English breakfast in the hotel before heading out for the day. It is very expensive to eat in London. - The front desk staff were pleasant and responsive to any of our needs. - The restaurants in the area are very close and there is a wide variety to choose from. - The hotel is old so be prepared for this. Our room with 2 twin beds was small but we knew that going in, it didn't matter to us as we spent very little time there. We enjoyed the old charm of the building, it has a lot of character. - The elevator is slow but who cares! You are on vacation. We stayed on the 4th floor and always went down via the stairs. - The room was clean and had everything we needed - extra pillows and blankets, a hairdryer and a very good shower. This was my daughter and my first visit to London. It is very expensive to stay in London and I did my research before booking. Look at the photos, read the reviews and you will soon realize the value that The Mitre House offers. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family travelling from Can

Lovely cozy hotel in Paddington London. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would have liked temperature control in room, in terms of having heat on when I wanted it. I also would like face cloths and hand towels to go along with the provided bath towels. If you like charming and typically English, you owe it to yourself to check The Mitre House out!

Dear Deborah,Thank you for your lively and interesting review. The thermostatic valve on the side of the radiator can turn on or off the heat from the radiator and there are fans in all rooms for the summer months. We offer fresh towels daily and more on request.

The Mitre House Motel is a quaint little family-owned hotel and I liked it there. At first I thought my room was pretty small compared to Canadian standards, but I came to realize it was decent sized for what I was looking for in London and it included breakfast. It’s definitely not a 5 ⭐️, but if you’re looking for something reasonably priced, clean and safe, and within walking distance to a bunch of shops, restaurants, and Paddington Station, I recommend it.

Comfortable, no frills room with nice breakfast downstairs and conveniently located near Hyde Park. Highly recommend the Princess Diana memorial area of the park and if you have kids, check out the Princess Diana playground area. Friendly staff with easy walk from Paddington Station.

Typical small hotel for the area… the room is tiny, and the beds a bit tired and not the most comfortable BUT the location is very convenient, safe neighbourhood right around the corner from Paddington station, and the price was right. I certainly wasn’t impressed by the place, but it was also just fine.

Dear Giancarle,There are usually reasons that disgruntled guests write the worst review possible after a one night stay. Thefts from rooms, dirty, bugs, nothing working, rude staff, overcharged, excess noise, leaks, dodgy location, ie. next to power station or sewage works etc. So Giancarle, which of these was it? Having failed to mention any points by yourself during your brief visit, my guess is that you left home imagining that for a couple of bucks you could have a suite in The Savoy and when you got here your expectations were shattered!

I have stayed at the Mitre House Hotel 3 times, & enjoyed myself each time. It is not fancy & doesn’t pretend to be, but it is clean & they offer a decent cooked breakfast. If there are any issues with your room, just tell reception & they will fix it!

The hotel is ideally located close to paddington which gives us access to every part of London. The breakfast is decent but is fixed everyday and so can get monotonous if you stay 2-3 days or more. The rooms are a bit small and the shower works in funny ways. Overall its a good budget hotel for a quick stay.

We had a lovely stay at the Mitre House. The staff are all lovely, the room was very comfortable, the breakfast was good and the location was great for access to Paddington as well as to Hyde Park and Kensington Park. We will not stay anywhere else when we visit London.

Excellent location, wonderful breakfast included, free luggage storage and a nice bar and lounge area to relax after a long day. The furniture and bathroom are dated but clean and comfortable. One block from Paddington Station. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Location was excellent and a 2-3 minute walk to the train station, tube and bus stop. Area was safe and we were out at night with no problems. Rooms and bathrooms were small but adequate, especially since we were out and about all day. Beds and showers were fine. Elevator was available. Breakfast was excellent. Service was wonderful.

You wont be able to find a better deal in London! Perfect little cozy hotel that is super clean, with great customer service. The hotel is in a great location in Paddington near Paddington station and streets with pubs, cafes, connivence stores and gift shops. Breakfast was great, and served fresh daily. I would totally recommend for anyone looking for a budget friendly hotel. I will be back!

Beautifully preserved interior and exterior in a walkable neighborhood close to Hyde Park and Paddington station. Comfy bed. We didn’t stay for the breakfast. Traffic noise could be heard from the street and the occasional footstep from the room upstairs. I’ve stayed in other hotels in the same general area and didn’t remember hearing street noise - If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Overall great value.

Great value for money in a really good location. Bit dated but it's very clean and well looked after. Staff friendly. Parking was very easy and very handy. Close to Hyde park. Noisy at night but that's to be expected. Breakfast is cheap and cheerful.

We were initially attracted to staying at Mitre House not just because it had good reviews overall, but because the hotel staff wrote excellent responses to the reviews themselves (we will be bookmarking the review page for those times when we need a smile!) We stayed at the hotel on two occasions in February and March, and will be sure to return during our next trip to the UK. Special thanks to the staff, particularly Kate, who all went out of their way to make our stay extremely comfortable. We loved the complementary English breakfast -- we especially appreciated that it was made to order, rather than a germ-infested buffet. Our room was comfortable and served us well, especially on days when the weather wasn't conducive to venturing out. As blind travellers, we often find that people are unsure of how best to help us. Overall, the staff were great at communicating, letting us navigate independently around the building, while being willing to help when needed. The hotel is ideally placed for good restaurants, cafes, pubs and other amenities. Thanks again, and we look forward to a return visit.

Dear Lauren,Your review is not only compelling but has become one of my all time favourites. Not just because of your compliments to Pedro but because of your unique incite into our operations. Somehow, your physical disabilities have allowed your other senses to flourish. You have picked up on the essential qualities of staff in any establishment that comes under the banner of hospitality. We believe in "Old fashioned hospitality" that seems to have been lost in these days of on-line check-in and so forth. It has taken a blind couple from the other side of the world to open the eyes of reviewers that have been unkind.

Nice place in a great location. Friendly staff. Only complaint was the room temperature was very warm even after turning off the radiator. Had to open a window despite it being in the 40’s (8 C) outside.

This piece of detective work is unlikely to impress many judges who conclude that a building built in the 1800s and has been run by the same family since 1962 is unlikely to be anything other than "dated" so do your research to avoid disappointment.

I have stayed at the Mitre on numerous occasions dating to 2017. The hotel is older, but location, kind staff, nice English breakfast and general positive experience far outweigh any dated decor. I will return again!

There was only 2 problems with my stay at Mitre Hotel the toilet would,nt flush and the shower did,nt work everything else was fine

Dear Claudia,Thank you for your review. We inspected your room and found that there were no problems with either the shower or the toilet. If you had asked our staff to assist they would have suggested turning on the shower mixer fully and turn the WC flush with a little more wrist action. We always welcome our guests to ask our 24 hour reception to help if there are any issues. In the past this was a way of achieving instant gratification.
