The rooms were absolutely stunning with a real “old-world” charm about them. The location of the hotel was perfect with a park across the street with an outdoor restaurant, live music and markets. Felt incredibly safe and had easy access to the metro when we wanted to do more exploring. We would recommend this hotel to any of our friends and family and we can’t wait to go back ourselves! 😊

The staff were so welcoming to me and my friend when we checked in, and all throughout our trip they were really friendly and gave us some great recommendations for places to visit. The location is also amazing and was really accessible for us to get around by foot, or public transport, also the hotel itself is beautiful! I will definitely stay here again if I return to Lisbon and recommend this place to anyone thinking of a trip here.

Great location and clean rooms, but our room requires some updating. Asked for a quiet room, had an incident on the first night during which someone was banging EXTREMELY LOUDLY for around an hour, couldn’t sleep and felt unsafe. The staff walking in the corridor also was very loud, you can hear absolutely every noise in the corridor (not sure if staff are aware?). The bag porter was so sweet, liked him a lot. Receptionist was a bit overwhelming when we arrived, we’d had a long day of 9 hours of travelling, we were exhausted and she spent half an hour talking at us, and wanted to come into our room to show us every element of the room.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Oliver and our time in Lisbon. This is a charming bed-and-breakfast-style property where the rooms appear to have their own individual character. Our Suite Prime (Room #2) was beautiful, spacious and full of personality, with large windows and a wonderful view over Príncipe Real square. The staff were warm and kind. Maria Luisa, in particular, was incredibly personable, and we really enjoyed talking with her after returning from long days exploring Lisbon. Breakfast offered a very nice variety, and the fruit was consistently fresh and delicious. For us, however, the property's greatest asset is the location. Casa Oliver is directly across from the beautiful square, with the Botanical Garden just behind the property. There are excellent restaurants, shopping and viewpoints within easy walking distance. We also found the neighborhood pleasant and felt very safe. Príncipe Real gave us easy access to Lisbon while providing a much calmer atmosphere than some of the heavily touristed areas of the city. Be aware before booking that air conditioning is not available in every room. Make sure you contact the property before making reservations if this is very critical for you specially in summer time. The lack of AC in our particular room had a significant impact on our comfort and sleep during warm weather. With clearer disclosure about air conditioning this could be an even better experience.

The hotel is in a fantastic location (lots of cafes, restaurants, bars within walking distance) and is quiet and safe. Everything is walk able, though there are bus stops around if you need a break from the hills. The staff is very friendly and helpful; walked you through the hotel and provided the codes at check in. The building is a typical older one but everything in great condition. (There is an elevator 😉) I would stay here again when in Lisbon!

Not as advertised. Filthy room and hard to find. Smelled like sewage backed up in the bathroom. Bodily fluids on the upholstered bed frame, fingerprints on the mirrors, and hair on the bed. NO AIR CONDITIONING. Another couple was complaining to staff that the cleaning lady left their room open. They also complained that construction was being done in their room and they were not notified beforehand. Staff attempted to give my wife and I another room, but we didn’t feel safe at this place. DO NOT STAY HERE if you value your privacy and cleanliness. The worst part of our trip was this experience. There are many wonderful/clean places in Portugal to stay.

Ińes who works at the front desk was amazing!!! She was so kind, so welcoming, so hospitable, and so helpful. I thought I lost my luggage and she helped me track down the taxi driver. She went above and beyond the call of duty and didn't hesitate to help me. The room was so beautiful. So many quaint details in the room, attention to detail, and warm environment. I will be back to stay in Casa Oliver and tell all my friends to stay there when in Lisbon!

The rooms are very well located. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and giving you a range of cuisine choices. The metro is 10 minutes away and easy to navigate. The room we booked was spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. It had a mini fridge which helped me so much in preserving my diabetic medication. Great, big bed and wonderful shower pressure, as well as a couch and large television. The room attendant was very helpful and very friendly. My criticism centres around two things, the mechanism for the room’s lock and the shower door which initially did not close properly, allowing water leakage. Without needing to enter into details, my experience in asking for help sorting these issues, was met with a ‘there’s a trick to these two things and you (the guest) should have known this’. I’m paraphrasing. Showing us how to sort them inferred the onus was on us, the guests…No. We paid for accommodation that should have worked. The other thing is that the room does not have air conditioning and because of the outside heat, it does get very stuffy. The windows can be opened to let the cooler evening air in, but because Casa Oliver is situated on such a busy main street, with a busy park across, the noise makes this very difficult if not impossible. The fan provided does help somewhat, but not completely. Air conditioning would solve this issue. The breakfast is highly recommended and the kitchen staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

This is not a hotel it is a bespoke experience. You will be made to feel like a special guest in someone’s home. The staff will go above and beyond to make things to your liking. The breakfast/restaurant serves a beautiful buffet of top quality of foods, coffee and other beverages all elegantly prepared to delight both your eye and your palate. The room it is served in feels like a throw back in time. With palm frond motifs on the numerous pillows lining the banquette, comfortable chairs with cane seating, marble tabletops, Erte art on the walls, Oriental carpets and authentic jazz music playing in the background. The display of art and hand painted murals line the corridors and each room is individually curated with it’s own little vintage radio keeping the soft music playing, if you choose. The furnishings in the rooms are eclectic. Some will have distressed finishes alongside truly elegant touches such as crystal chandeliers. There are a few caveats. It is an old house. So the plumbing will make some noise when in use. But it is momentary, it does not last. Some rooms have been renovated and some may still need a little TLC. But don’t let that stop you. The staff will make it right. They’ll even bring you a lovely little assortment of fresh fruit and pastry to sweeten your stay! Stay open to the experience and you may fall in love like I did. This is a special place. I did not want to leave.
