Estoril is a town located on the Lisbon coastline, approximately 60 minutes from the city centre by rail or 30 minutes by road.

Since the 19th Century, Estoril has been a popular holiday area for the nobility and the royal family. Since then, grand hotels and Europe's biggest casino were built to welcome guests.

Today the Casino remains a popular entertainment spot, with restaurants, a nightclub, musicals and shows, and multitude of slot machines. Estoril has also some of Portugal’s finest golf courses, international events like MotoGP at Estoril Circuit and the Estoril Open as well as the Music Jazz Festival.

Some of the most popular landmarks of Estoril include Casa de Verdades de Faria, which houses the beautiful Museum of Portuguese Music and St. Anthony's Church, a beautiful church, popular for weddings.

Beside the Sea

Estoril's Tamariz beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area. It’s located right in front of the casino and is usually crowded during the summer, with live DJs providing musical entertainment. It is easily recognisable – just look out for the stunning castle. Another popular pick is the Praia de Carcavelos, a wide golden sand beach that offers great conditions for surfing. If you’re looking for a little peace and quiet, Sao Pedro do Estoril Beach is the one for you.

Visit Lisbon

Take the train to Cais do Sodré and visit the historic Lisbon downtown area, the Sé Cathedral and the castle. Take the tram in Praça do Comércio to explore the charming streets of Alfama or Belém district. Here you can visit the famous custard tarts factory and taste the typical ‘Pastéis de nata’, while admiring the monuments to the Age of Discovery, such as Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery. If you appreciate modern architecture head to the Park of Nations, with its cathedral-shaped train station, cable car and famous aquarium.

Visit Cabo da Rocha

This is the westernmost point of Europe and has dramatic cliffs by the sea. There is also a lighthouse and scenic paths you can follow along the cliffs.

Visit Sintra

Sintra is only 15 minutes away from Estoril by car. This town is classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site with palaces designed in the Romantic style, all set against the backdrop of a Nature Park. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Palácio da Pena, Quinta de Regaleira and the Moorish Castle.

The room was spotlessly clean, the staff was welcoming and helpful. The only complaint was the airplane noise, don't know if they are over a flight path, but very negligible since great bed to sleep on!!!

Excellent, friendly staff. Check in was a breeze. They made us feel at home. The rooms, though, are small, but homey. The grounds and buildings were formerly a convent. There may be nun ghosts (seriously). They like to slap stuff around sometines. We tried all of the hotel's food and bar options. ...

Tram 28 🚋
The Tram 28 in Lisbon takes you on a famous must-see route, since it passes by all the main attractions and neighborhoods of the city. The ride starts in Martim Moniz square, but I highly recommend getting on at any other stop, as the lines to get on the tram in Martim Moniz can get very long (and I’m talking 2 hours long). For example, I got on at a stop in front of the Basilica da Estrela, which is less touristy since it’s pretty far from the city center, and I only waited for the next available tram to arrive

Bica is a destination travellers like for its cafes, and you might hop aboard the metro at Cç. Combro Stop or Sta. Catarina Stop to explore sights like Santa Catarina Viewpoint.
