Copthorne Hotel Plymouth

Copthorne Hotel Plymouth

8/10 Good
"Absolutely fine. Close to centre and walking distance from Home Park. A bit faded decor and no air con in the room but fans provided. Decent breakfast. Parking was a bit of a nightmare as on the day of my arrival the doors to the underground car park had broken and I had to route via Sainsbury's car park risking a fine but thankfully the hotel staff managed to override the parking database and it appeared to have worked. Generally all was good and I would recommend and use again."

"These are not hotel rooms They’re cottages converted into rooms. You have to drive to reception then drive back to allocated cottage. Drive back for meals then drive back to cottage. Oh yes then you drive back to return your key. I see why it’s a golf club! Breakfast very disappointing. Due to “ being quiet” it wasn’t all you could eat. It was ordered by the plate at the table. Not the same. Guests area and reception need an upgrade. Woudnt stay agsin."

Bodmin Jail Hotel

Bodmin Jail Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Such a unique and fascinating hotel to stay in. From the start you're already curious about what you would encounter during your stay and as soon as you walk in, the "jail" vibe just hits, but with it an air of pure luxury is felt throughout and every detail has been considered. The walls in your room are a mix of modern plaster but where they can, they've left the original exposed brickwork that the prisoners would have seen and felt when they were in there 200+ years ago. I believe most rooms are 3 original cells knocked through, creating a luxurious bedroom space with dressing table and then provides a beautiful en-suite which looks stunning. Underfloor heating makes the room feel welcoming and there is air conditioning in each room which again makes it feel homely rather than the cold cell it once was. The rooms all have a plaque which gives details of a prisoner who was homed in your room (cell). I did expect a little more exciting than a woman who spent 2 months in there for stealing milk, but they have to keep it low-key I suppose. The breakfast was delicious and for a Sunday, it was very busy but they handled it efficiently. I would recommend the restaurant although it is quite pricey. Sadly, no encounters during the night of anything other-worldly, but we absolutely loved our stay there and it has been a huge talking point with friends since we stayed. Would return for sure!"

Camelot Castle Hotel

Camelot Castle Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Stayed in a small double room as it was the only room available at the time of booking. Clean and had all you need just the bed was small for two adults. Wonderful place with fantastic views overlooking the ocean and Tintagel Castle. We had afternoon tea and it was amazing seating by the window overlooking the Castle. I recommend this hotel for a unique experience just book in advance as it’s popular place to stay. There are nice pubs and cafes in the village itself with really good food if you don’t prebook dinner and breakfast. Don’t miss out when in Tintagel"

"The location was very good. Easy walk to Barbican. The park was right up the street. The room could have been cleaner. The air vents were full of dust. When we brought this to the staffs attention they immediately cleaned it. The carpet could have used a good cleaning. The restaurant was lovely. The view was spectacular and the food was very good. "Only issue that I can mention was the fact there was no one at the pool reception when we went for our first swim. A guest had to show me how to access. Consequently I went into the members changing room then when I eventually spoke to a girl she informed me I should not be there but to go to the other changing room. Had to ask for a tag. 2nd day no problem and helpful staff. Breakfast amazing It was my birthday and they gave me a little gift. Will definitely be going back"
