Huskisson Travel Guide

Tourist Guide
Huskisson featuring a sandy beach and general coastal views as well as a large group of people
Stay in this town on beautiful Jervis Bay to combine urban comforts with closeness to some of Australia’s most iconic wildlife, including dolphins, whales and kangaroos.

Huskisson offers a gateway to the incredible scenery and wildlife of the Jervis Bay area, as well as coming with plenty of charms of its own. Fill your days by spotting Australia’s famous land and marine wildlife, and then relax in the evening at the movie theatre or at a lively bar or restaurant.

Stay in Huskisson and you will be perfectly situated to explore the crystal-clear ocean water and pristine beaches that have made Jervis Bay famous. Be sure to pay a visit to Hyams Beach, a gorgeous spot that holds the Guinness World Record for the whitest sand in the world.

Allow plenty of time to explore the area’s rich and varied wildlife. Between June and November, the waters close to Huskisson offer one of the world’s best places to spot migrating humpback whales and southern right whales. Other marine mammals to look for at various times of the year include dolphins and Australian fur seals. Join one of the nature-watching cruises that cover the Jervis Bay area and brace yourself to get up close to nature at its most glorious.

Hike or bike the rugged New South Wales landscape when you explore one of the nearby national parks, such as Jervis Bay National Park or Booderee National Park. Make sure you bring binoculars with you, as these parks are home to marsupials such as kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas, as well as a huge variety of bird life.

Take a day off from the great outdoors to explore Huskisson itself. See famous ships at the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum then enjoy a drink at one of the town’s diverse array of restaurants, which stock wines produced at local vineyards. Finally, unwind with a movie at Huskisson Pictures. This pretty little red movie theatre dates back to 1913.

Drive to Huskisson in around 3 hours from Sydney, or take a domestic flight to Jervis Bay Airport. Come prepared to fall in love at first sight with this town and its winning combination of outdoor fun and urban convenience.

Tourist info very helpful once licated. A pleasant wander around the maritime museum area and the mangrove boardwalk.. . Huskisson seems to shut up shop early and places to eat hard to find other than a good meal at Stone Grill

Beautiful little town with surprisingly busy roads. The shops were interesting and the beaches were stunning.
