Check in was a nightmare, room was not ready until 4.15pm, we did receive a complimentary drink voucher, which the bar staff did allow us a drink each even though 1 voucher. The spa was full of kids so unusable ( note to self don’t go school holiday times). I was brought the wrong order at dinner, the staff member apologised (apparently there was also a set menu I was given that chicken by mistake!) he took it straight away and came back with my order which was cold but tasty. Breakfast was lovely and are overall stay was very enjoyable.

Great property in concept, but they obviously haven’t spent much money on the place for years and the bedrooms are now particularly old, worn and dated. Very disappointing and very over priced.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting, has been recently refurbed in some parts. However the food is has gone very much down hill from whence I first visited some 24 years ago (and have been re-visiting every year since) The hotel has changed hands several times over this period but there seems to be a problem with staff (not trained very) especially in the eating/drinking areas and the quality of food. I must say for a 4* hotel this is very disappointing and totally lets the place down. There seems to be a lack of management of staff/food and organisation throughout the hotel. Our food came cold, the bar staff didn't even know what drinks were on the menu, not to mention the exorbident prices of the cocktails. The spa didn't have towels and we had to wait an hour to gain access to the pool area because of this. There are only snacks sold now in the spa but we later found out you could pre-order food in there which no one told us of beforehand. Such a shame because this place could be fabulous. A lot of people were complaining about the same things.
