"Stunning hotel with amazing views across the lake, floor-to-ceiling windows in our room which was fantastically 1970s design in very high quality.
The onsen overlooking the lake was also glorious.
The breakfast. Buffet was fantastic and the staff were brilliant. Hakone’s sightseeing boat goes from next door and is a must."

"My group stayed at Villa H. Clean room and has the basic amenities. The location was convenient to other areas. We used a rental car, but there is also a bus stop right outside. Villa H was placed above another loft, so getting our larger luggage was a bit difficult, but we were aware of the room placement so no issues at all. Overall we really enjoyed the Villa and location. Thank you!"

"Stayed in a suite with private onsen and lounge area. We were a family of 4 and this was perfect for us. The room was comfortable, clean and all the little extras were a treat. The futons were also the nicest we had in Japan!
The food was amazing but soooo much of it! We tried to ask for less but I don’t think they know how to do less!
Location was great with lovely views and the lift straight from the hotel to the ropeway was very helpful.
Staff were fantastic, we felt like honoured guests. Having the car service from Gora station was also very helpful.
We stayed in many different places during our 3 week trip and this was my favourite. Highly recommend."
"I was wowed. To be honest, pictures don’t do this justice. It’s a place you can get lost in- in the most beautiful way possible. It is the most scenic stay I’ve experienced to date. It inspires poetry and deep thought. It was my brilliant oasis. Thank you! My only qualms were the food- it was bit underwhelming for the price point; however, the dining view, opulence and careful care from staff made up for it a bit."
"A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff were excellent. The rooms were large. The robes and change of clothes were a lovely touch.
The dining buffet was huge. It had something for everyone.
There was nothing to complain about. It was a great experience"
"This property was one of the best we stayed at. The apartment was stunning with a gorgeous view. We appreciated the drinks and snacks that were left for us. The location was great. We were sorry to leave."
"We had a wonderful stay at Gora Kadan. It was the highlight of our Japan trip. The experience from start to finish was perfect, check in, dinner, breakfast all with impeccable service. Our room was quiet with plenty of space to relax. Highly recommend!"
"This is a beautiful luxury hotel with very attention staff. The food is amazing. We had the teppanyaki dinner and the kaiseki Japanese breakfast which was the perfect combination. The teppanyaki dinner is considered "western," while the other choice is the Japanese kaiseki style which one should try at least once while in Japan. The food is art and is breathtaking in beauty.
The onsens were beautiful. We tried the public one and both private ones (the rock and the cypress). The cypress one is particularly lovely. The guest lounge that serves drinks and hors d'oeuvres, including very high end Japanese whiskey, is the best that I've seen at any hotel. It doesn't replace a meal but are very good refreshments that rival anything at a 4-5 star hotel. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Gora train station. It provides a shuttle to the Odawara train station where you can catch the shinkansen. Note that the price of the room will depend on the number of guests in the room because the main charge is for the very upscale meals that come with the rooms. The price can vary substantially depending on the day of the week and season as well. Note that Asian hotels are not like American hotels in which the number of guests is allowed to be flexible. It's very important that the number of guests is reported accurately for Asian hotels. This is a perfect place to feel nourished and refreshed."
