"This beautiful old building clearly had a storied past, but the basic furnishings, lack of usable outlets, and cheap building materials undermine the experience. The beds were also very creaky and hard. The staff were nice, there is parking across the street, and the proximity to Times Square, as well as the general quiet of the building, are the selling points."
"This newly renovated hotel was a great find. We appreciated all the lovely folks, that work there, who went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, from Joe the manager to Razeu, our server in the lounge. The location is perfect for access to the subway, Broadway or Times Square. The rooms are the usual NY style of small and clearly old but everything from the carpet to the bedding was updated and clean.
We really enjoyed our stay here and I will be going back."
"Service was great but my only complaint was the room. First off the shower didn’t work till we called maintenance which luckily they were quick to fix. The outlets next to the bed didn’t work. The toilet seat looked like melted it with something hot. Both the tub and the toilet looked cracked. Other than those everything looked fine."
"The Pod51 hotel (located on 51st near 3rd Avenue) is in an excellent location. The reception staff and housekeeper were fantastic. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a relatively economical base in Manhattan"
"On arrival, I found they added a surprise $40 per day "Access Fee" for the hotel. You'd think you'd have access when you've paid for a room, but not here. A shady way to dramatically change the cost of your stay once it's too late. They also put me on the 3rd floor initially, and the room was shaking from the music in the club below. Not a great experience."
