Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert

Galeries St. Hubert which includes interior views, shopping and heritage architecture
Watch a play in the Royal Theatre or shop for gifts, fashion and books beneath the arched ceiling in this grand arcade complex.

One of the finest examples of Europe’s 19th-century arcades, the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert showcase the best in Belgian fashion, food and design.

Since its construction in 1847, the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert has been a destination for Belgium’s upper class. It was built so the emerging bourgeois class could avoid Brussels’ more questionable neighbourhoods. Today, the beautiful arcade is a busy thoroughfare through the city and accessible to all. Enjoy the ornate architecture, shop at the designer boutiques or dine at one of the popular bars and restaurants.

The arcade has more than 50 independent boutiques within its three double-story arcades. Visit the King’s Arcade for traditional, handmade leather goods, classic Belgian chocolatiers or artisan jewelers and glassmakers. The adjacent Queen’s Gallery is known for its designer shoes and innovative interior design destinations. Wander through the smaller Princes’ Gallery and enjoy  bookshops, gift shops and a stylish women’s clothing boutique.

As you walk among the exclusive retailers, you’ll see the lavish lifestyle of 19th-century Brussels reflected in the architecture. The interwoven series of arches, windows and ornamental columns are what attract so many visitors to the arcade.

By night the arcade remains busy with two theatres, a cinema and a number of restaurants and bars attracting locals and tourists alike. Take in a performance at the Vaudeville Theatre or a play at the Royal Theatre.

Although the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert has a reputation for accommodating the rich and lavish lifestyles of Brussels’ high society, a meal in the arcade is affordable and many restaurants are local favourites. Start your evening with a champagne sample at a store dedicated to French wine or end the night enjoying a coffee at one of the two corner cafés.

Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert is located in central Brussels and is best reached on foot or via train, tram or bus. Some metered street parking is available in the area surrounding the Grand Place. The arcade is open daily but stores have varying opening hours.
