Deep inside the Sian Ka'an Natural Reserve, you can find several absolutely stunning eco-houses, trying to blend themselves with the jungle surrounding them, with as little impact to the environment as possible. And although I personally don't agree with the fact that they're building INSIDE a natural reserve, there's no denying the fact that they are beautiful as hell.
La Selva Mariposa is torn from the textbook of self-manifested paradises. It's a handcrafted B&B, designed and built by its enterprising (and wonderfully friendly) owners. Spa restfullness collides with convenience and comfort, all set to a backdrop of exotic jungle sounds and a myriad of originally-designed water features. The day begins with fresh, aromatic breakfasts and ends however you want. In our case, we were found mostly in hammocks or in our private, cenote-style pool. Yeah. It was nigh to ridiculous. Service is always great. 4th time here and this time pools were cold and swim up very cold which I paid for. Was always heated before and a reason I returned. That was disappointing.
