On the two days I stayed, there were weddings on each day. It was noisy at night and in the morning, but the worst part was that all the staff seemed focussed on the wedding and normal guests were ignored. We struggled to get a drink in the bar as the barman had disappeared into the wedding. Poor food choices. The swimming pool is also used by external guests. Bathroom very grubby and room was not cleaned. Very poor for an alleged 4* hotel.

I recently stayed at the Mercure Box Hill Burford Bridge Hotel for a quick stay cation. The pool area is relaxing, with plenty of sun loungers set in front of box hill. Great service from Jonathan working in the bar and restaurant. Very clean.

Check in at 8pm to be told it’s £10 to park in the hotel car park and that there are not tables available for dinner. We asked if we could just order some chips or something to have in the empty bar/lounge are only to be told no, but we could buy some crisps. No mention of alternatives (we lawyer discovered a really nice pub 5 mins walk away). Really disappointing when we paid over £100 for one night. As it turned out, another member of our party had reserved a table for 6 of us for dinner, so we were able to order a meal in the restaurant. There were 2 other people eating, so not quite sure why we were initially told it was fully booked. There were NO vegan options on the very limited menu and although the chap serving us seemed lovely, had no idea about the menu/what was in each dish/what was vegan/not vegan. Everything was very slow, so we assume they were very short staffed. It’s a nice area for walking etc but I wouldn’t stay here again unless I had no option.
