With an airport hotel there is an expectation that they will be functional but have no character this hotel is an exception. We were very pleasantly surprised to find how good this hotel was. The rooms were nice and spacious with some nice little touches. The restaurant and bar area were nice and lively, might have had something to do with it being St Patrick's day as they had a live singer/guitar player. We only booked this hotel for one night as the house we'd booked for our son's wedding was unavailable that night and we now wish that we'd stayed there for all of our stay.

Great one bed apartment with plenty of room and excellent facilities. Staff were super helpful. Walk into the centre was around 25 mins. Supermarket nearby as well as a few restaurants & cafes.

What a lovely hotel. Very close to Christchurch Airport and walkable to departures. Lovely clean and smart hotel. Large and comfortable rooms. Lovely beds. Nice restaurant with good food. Not to mention the brilliant robot service!! Love that!! And finally a special thank you to Rinny who helped us in our hour of need sorting out the car rental return to Scotties as they had closed early, not told us and left us in the lurch. Rinny was so helpful. Thank you.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Observatory Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful, full of character and history, and the location in the Arts Centre, right opposite the Botanic Gardens, is fantastic. We loved being able to walk everywhere and explore Christchurch from such a central yet peaceful location. Our room was beautifully decorated, comfortable and full of lovely little touches. The whole hotel has such a unique feel, it’s much more than just a hotel and feels like you’re staying...

Great hotel and a nice little walk into town

A VERY helpful owner, nothing was too much trouble. It is a superb immaculately clean and comfortable motel with lovely unexpected touches and a superb shower. A car is not needed to stay here, (although there is good parking), it is within easy walking distance of the railway station, good bus connections ( including purple line bus direct to the airport ), supermarket and shopping mall. Highly recommended after a three night stay in February 2020.

Fantastic motel. From the minute I drove into their car park the manager came out and knew my name! Wow. Rooms are generously sized, sound proof, spotlessly clean, has all I needed for a one night stay. Highly recommended. I even recommended it to a friend who needs a room tonight as was that good. Handy to the Highway for heading North or South.
