This is the coldest hotel room ive ever stayed in, window full of condensation, bathroom quite tatty, slim quilt and very small TV, spa needed a good makeover as really run down, atmosphere, none as hardly anyone about, would not reccommend

A disappointing stay
The room was cold when we arrived here but an extra electric radiator was supplied which helped to keep the room warm and there was no hot water until the morning so this made our stay uncomfortable as we wanted to have a bath before dressing for dinner also the dinner menu was very limited so we decided not to stay here again as my wife has health issues so she developed anxiety from being cold etc.

We were upgraded to a beautiful room on the top floor overlooking the golf course without even asking. The person who checked us in was lovely, warm and friendly. And incredibly accommodating about a late checkout. We are only staying one night but will definitely be back! We really wish we were staying longer.

Disappointed, period building from outside carried inside slightly. Room we stayed in ruined by installation of grid ceiling, very cold in the room in the evening. The pool wasn’t very warm and also young children in the pool arguing and making a lot of noise and they were also using the sauna and steam room. The bar area wasn’t very cosy.

Staff are very nice and accommodating. The room I stayed in was a little tired and TBH a little cold. I couldn’t turn the radiator up. Bed was soft but comfortable shower is an electric shower with marginal power, it’s not what I am used to but was fine . My breakfast was sensational, I don’t normally eat a cooked breakfast, this was up there and the quality of the ingredients was first class. Credit to the kitchen !

Stayed one night all the fire regs are outdated which is scary as the hotel room door is incredibly difficult to open quickly which would be terrifying in the event of a fire. We paid 90 pounds which is unreasonable because it’s not worth that at all. The room smelt like it had not been cleaned for months, fusty and full of dust. The towels also smelt really bad. Woodlices in the bath and on the floor which confirmed the above for me that it had not been cleaned properly prior to new guests staying.

The hotel is lovely, food was really good but the absolute best thing about this hotel os the staff. Hands down the best service in any hotel i have ever stayed in. They to a person couldn't do enough for you. I cant recommend this hotel highly enough

Reception staff were excellent. I’m the bar there was one young gentleman bar tender who was not customer friendly at all and could do with some lessons in being polite and engaging

Pleasing Staff - Poor Hotel
I must stress, for all the hotel's miserable standards, the staff have been excellent and very helpful to remedy as best they could any shortcomings. I think they know the problems. But positives first: The location is perfect for a good night's sleep, being part of a golf club complex. It is a short drive north of Chorley and parking in Chorley is very cheap, £ 1 for 3 hours. The only other good point is the restaurant, which offers good quality food, albeit at typical higher hotel prices. Now the negatives: I check in to an ice cold room. no heating. There were draughty old fashioned sash windows without any form of thermal mitigation. The leisure club asks for towel fee even for residents!!! And this for a room price of over £ 100 without b'fast. There is no access from the hotel to the pool / sauna, you need to get out into the cold wet weather. The bathroom is 1960s style, old fashioned mixer taps, scalding hot water and an electric shower, which is a poor afterthought. The bathroom had no privacy curtains on the window, so with lights on, the whole world could enjoy your bath fun. After two complaints, the heating finally came on and they also provided an expensive to run extra room heater and on the second day extended the daily heating cycle. Despite the staff trying hard, this is a hotel stuck in the 60s with itty bitty updates and evident lack of investment. Not worth over £ 100. The website photos belie the truth.

We were put in a room that had no window (it had a small dirty skylight). The room smelled and was roasting hot (even for my hothouse flower wife).it was clean and probably ok for what we paid, but expected more. Check out time is 1030 which is also a bit tight.

Lovely food and views
Very comfortable with beautiful views but not a pretty walk to be had as it’s a golf course. Service was mostly very good with a little more staff training required in what implements are required for the food they are serving in the expensive restaurant as well as more courtesy from some staff when responding to questions or pouring wine for other diners. , ie an awareness of which other diners you are repeated bumping into. The menu is very good but again some waiter knowledge of it an advice on ordering sides could make it perfect. Little things like drinking water and some useful toiletry items such as tissues and shower caps would make a more comprehensive and comfortable stay.

Excellent facilities, room decor slightly tired but clean ….Being picky there were cigarette ends around the outdoor drinking areas but we were there while a wedding was in progress so large party and this may not be representative of their normal standard. Definitely would stay again however and overall a good experience with excellent value for money

Like being in a time warp
Got stuck in the annex. Room was absolutely appalling, in need of some serious work to bring up to date and modernising. Room draws also painted shut. Breakfast also terrible for 15 pounds.

Room 22 smelled very strongly of damp, and there were wood lice in the bathroom. The bedding felt damp to. I didn’t get the relaxing experience I was expecting and did sleep due to the smell.
