Lovely stay in Capetown.

Fantastic stay for a relaxed holliday with daily excursions arround Capetown. We appreciated, the very nice hospitallity, breakfasts and also the house incl. areas for reading, sun tanning at the pool. High comfort beds! Easy to access by car incl. parking.

Such a warm and lovely place. Rooms were immaculate and each has its own charm and decor. Owners were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast perfect. Loved the robes! Great location near UCT and felt very safe. One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed.

Yves and Valerie are the consummate hosts. This was our first trip to South Africa and Yves and Valerie made it a stress free experience. Their kindness and welcoming nature provided a comfortable, warm atmosphere that made us feel at home. It began before we arrived when Yves sent us options for restaurants and offers to help with rentals. We traveled over Christmas and I'd made reservations at a local restaurant for Christmas Day, unbeknownst to me the restaurant was closed. Yves found out and went out of his way to make another reservation for my family. His thoughtfulness and attention to his guests is what you can expect. In addition, I thought it would be nice if my family woke up on Christmas morning to find stockings hung from the fireplace. It was an odd request, but I asked if Valerie or Yves could help out with my 'surprise'. Valerie kindly found stockings and put them together. What a wonderful surprise for my family on Christmas morning. The house and grounds are beautiful and recently renovated after a terrible fire in 2019. The adornments and old world charm of the house transport you to a different time. Breakfast was always delicious, especially the croissant that are specially shipped in from France. The pool and gardens are exquisitely maintained by Yves. If you are looking for a get-away where you'll be sure to be treated well, look no further than the Carmichael House and the hospitality of Yves and Valerie.

Really nice and clean. Very helpful and good service. Internet really good. Check out a bit early at 10am and good to know that it is 20 min from down town.

Hotel com cara de casa de avó

O ponto mais forte do hotel é o dono. Ele é extremamente atencioso e procura agradar. O café da manhã é ótimo. As roupas de cama também são muito boas. Não gostamos muito do quarto em si. Era um quarto para 4 com 2 ambientes, uma pequena saleta e 1 banheiro. O banheiro muitas vezes exalava cheiro forte de esgoto (retorno de gases). E nos quartos não havia ar condicionado, como estava no verão, passamos calor à noite. O armário era muito pequeno e antigo. Sentimos falta de mais espaço para guardarmos nossas roupas. Acabamos deixando tudo na mala.

Fantastic!

I was in a trip with my family and spent 7 nights there. All was perfect - the room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was one of the best we could expect with a huge variety of bread and fruits and on top of that you com order very tasty pancakes, eggs with sausage, etc. The house itself is also very beautiful but the high point were Valery and Yves who are the owners and are present there all the time to help us with the breakfast, with important tips on the tours we organized ourselves. Yves even helped me with an issue I had with my car rental company! There are only 4 places to park the car inside the property but I parked mine many times on the street, which is a cul de sac, and had no issues, looks very safe. Only internet did not work well all the time but this was insignificant given all the other positive points.

Charming and cozy

I had a wonderful experience at Carmichael Guesthouse and would stay here again. The staff were very helpful before I arrived with helping me to arrange tours. I loved being away from the hustle and bustle of downtown in a quieter neighborhood in a charming house full of history. I felt very well taken care of and hope to come back someday.

Ideal Location

Well after visiting over 60 countries this is the first review i have left, this house was beautiful laden with Victorian features, the owners are possible the friendliest i have encountered and go out of there way to make sure u have bookings and other trips fully planned. We will be visiting again by the end of the year and without a doubt we will be staying here, in fact this stay actually made our entire visit memorable Malcolm and Fon

Home from home

We loved every minute of our stay at Charmichael Guesthouse!!! Every detail of the property from the gardens to the guest rooms were perfectly thought out and exquisitely decorated in a Colonial yet modern style. Our room was absolutely massive with a beautiful high ceiling, it had everything you’d need and we have nil complaints about it! Breakfast was awesome - full continental spread which was divine along with a cooked breakfast of your choice - class! Finally, our hosts were amazing!!! They are a lovely couple who can’t do enough for their guests - sometimes hosts are overbearing or completely non-present, but these guys struck the balance just right! They helped us book tickets for table mountain, sorted us dinner reservations and even checked us into our flights and printed off our boarding cards so we could have an extra half hour in bed - I can’t speak highly enough of them! I’m sure you get the drift, but if you stay here I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! We’ll definitely be back!!!

Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt und mit viel Liebe zum Detail ausgestattet. Unser Zimmer war riesig, der Garten ist wunderschön und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Das Beste sind die Gastgeber, die mit viel Engagement und Liebe das Haus führen, das zeigt sich überall: im Garten, im Zimmer und auf dem dekorierten Teller mit den Spiegeleiern.

ウォーターフロントからは少々離れますが、高級住宅街のようなエリアにあるゲストハウスで治安の心配はない印象です。 徒歩圏内にスーパーやKFCがあったので、軽い買い物も事足ります。 写真の通りの素敵なお部屋や美味しい朝食、ふかふかのベッドで滞在を楽しめました。 ツアーの手配や空港送迎、早朝出発時の朝ご飯のパックなど至れり尽くせりでした。 またケープタウンに行く機会があれば、ぜひ泊まりたいです。

Fantastic if only...

The guest house is old and beautiful and it was a pleasant experience all around if only the queen bed was more comfotable. The matrass was so hard we rolled around for 2 hours before falling asleep. Change that and I’ll give it full marks.

Lovely guesthouse out of victorian times

The guesthouse is run by a lovely Swiss couple. They and their team are absolutely nice people that provide great service and support. The building is from victorian times and much is preserved until today which gives it the special charm you are looking for. It is located near the university. This is not super close to the Waterfront but with a taxi it just takes you 20 minutes to get there. The room I had was big with two beds and a sofa. Beds were comfortable with a big selection of pillows to fit your needs. The rooms contains a variety of electricity sockets so that you most likely will not need adapters.The bathroom was nice and clean providing a shower and bathtub. Breakfast is being served in a wintergarden. Selection is nice with home made marmelades and a big menu for omlettes, eggs, local sausage, etc..
