The main thing that worked for the Continent is its location (readily walkable to Asok BTS, Sukhumvit eateries, Terminal 21, Metro etc.). There is great coffee across the road from Artis coffee, and the Michelin starred The Local is abt a 10-15 min walk away. Staff were also always willing to help with room issues - we had problems with our TV, the room not being cleaned etc., and staff were always willing and quick to help. That said, some of the issues shouldn't have been there in the first place. One of the cleaners had inform us that the cleaning hrs were until 5pm (no idea why this was a valid reason since our room was vacant since we left in the morning). There were also a few issues with the access card. I could also hear what sounded like the motor/lift constantly through the walls of my room, the bar fridge (or TV or something else?:P) also kept making clicking noises one night. We were travelling as a family with old and young, so perhaps the above issues were more pronounced. I would think this would be a great hotel for biz travellers.
