The Boat Hotel

The Boat Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The Boat is a delightful traditional village pub/hotel, next to the Strathspey railway station. I always stay there when I am in the Cairngorms. It can be busy and lively, but there is always space in the dining room for guests. Staff are friendly. I wish there was a lift/elevator, but understand the limitations of an old building"

"Outside of hotel is iconic. Inside is ok. Central spaces are good. Rooms could be better. Beds weer ok. Overall: you get what you payed for. Breakfast. Was not good. Plundered by 3 coaches of pensionadas. After a bit waiting food was renewed but not great in quality."

Dalmunzie Castle Hotel

Dalmunzie Castle Hotel

8/10 Good
"We did love this hotel, it has a charm and is an amazing location, a mile long drive into the estate, magical. The castle it's self is a bit like a worn walking boot, scuffed, not new or smart, but very comfortable. Our room had a four poster bed so high I had to help my wife onto it, quite funny. Food was very good, dinner delicious and a good choice at breakfast. It does need up dating, and sprucing up, but stepping out and looking up at the hills surrounding you makes you think you are somewhere special."

"The 'Aviemore' hotel block is dated but despite this the room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. We used the pool with our kids however the water was very cold and we didn't stay long. The whole resort has plenty to offer and is good for a family stay but it could do with some areas being refreshed soon."
