The Room was new on the Inside and the outside was in the process of being remodeled. The bed was firm and comfortable. It was very quite as we were the only people staying that night. It is the off season in Ashland. You can definitely see that the owner is in the process of updating the hotel. Over all it was a good experience. One thing though the thermostat on the heater was not working. The shower would be better with a light in it. These though are trivial things.
Overall the place was clean and bug free, the bed comfortable, the shower hot, what more can you ask for.

The thermostat does work just depends on which side you turn the thermostat if you turn it toward number 10 cool side and if you turn it toward number one, it's hot side. Older, cute motel. Has a retro feel to it.
The rooms are updated and the beds are very very comfortable.
Everything was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly.
I will be staying here again when we come back to town.
I would highly recommend this motel.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Property itself is not the nicest. The owners were nice to let us check in early. But when our additional family member came to stay (we were in a family sweet) they called us being upset that another person didn’t check in. We apologized saying we didn’t know each individual person needed to check in. Then we left early they called us and were upset that we left and didn’t check out even though our other roommate was still there. This wasn’t a part of our original plan and didn’t know we all needed to individually check out as well…. Very odd in my option. They only called to reprimand us and nothing else. The way they talked to us over the phone made us feel like a child in trouble instead of a costumer.
I guess you get what you pay for. Next time I’ll be paying the extra money for a more normal hotel experience and for better facilities.

We have to know how many people are staying in each room because just in case, if some emergency happen, and either fire department or police department, come and ask us how many people are staying in each room. We have to provide them a list. So that is the reason we ask you a question when you come in for check-in about how many people? We are not asking for person names, but we are just doing a headcount We are not charging you any extra for a person that is max of four adults allowed in that room so if you would’ve told us at the time of check-in we should not run into this issue because you can’t just hand room to anybody else and leave the property. You are the primary registered person for that room. We are doing this for our guest safety. We hope that you understand.
Check in process was not real smooth. Great location near the university. Rooms were wonderful very clean and updated.

There was a room deposit that needs to be charged at the time of check-in that you forgot to read in the confirmation page that was sent from Expedia. This was the only problem in your check-in process. We hope that you understand it’s a third-party website so we have no control of where they show you the deposit. It’s listed on the page in the hotel policy. We hope to welcome you back in the future.
The room was clean, no carpet! The room was also quiet and the beds were comfortable. The outside could use updates. They are currently working on that. This was a good value.

Disliked: Room comfort
A few small issues.
Dead Bolt lock needs adjustment. Tv remote did not work. No insulation in the ceiling. Heard every footstep and squeak in the floor above. Transition between rooms loose and is a tripping hazard.

Great price. Outside very humble and could use some upgrade, but room was nice and newly refurbished. Pool was clean and delightful temp. Friendly at check-in and unlocking gate to pool. Good value for price.

Ashland Motel University is my go-to spot when I just need to get away into a private, quiet and very comfortable space. Internet is great, neighborhood has what I want and need and check-ins always feel warm and welcoming.

The motel was east to find and conveniently located close to I-5 and about a mile from downtown Ashland. Right next door to Morning Glory for delicious breakfast! The room was clean, AC worked great, and the staff super friendly and helpful. The pool is tiny and in the middle of the parking lot so that was the only downside —not that I came to Ashland looking for time by the pool but this one was not super inviting.

The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The pool was a perfect temperature. And it's next door to a great breakfast place. I would stay there again.

The staff insisted upon scanning a copy of my driver's license, as opposed to just looking at it to confirm my identity. I would not stay here again. There is no good reason for a motel to keep this kind of personal information.

Thank you for staying with us, but we really don’t understand what was really the problem. The clerk just asked to give your ID instead of looking over it makes the clerk check in process easier if you just hand them your ID, so that way Clerk does not have to type in information and it would be a quick check in process. Just like you give your ID when you check in at the airport you would still have to do the same thing at the hotel.
Good, basic motel. Bottom floor room had very low ceilings and was a bit cave-like. But the mattress was very good, everything was clean and had been remodeled. Check-in was easy, host was pleasant and accommodating. A good, budget value.

The location was directly across from SOU which was perfect for us. The staff waited up late for us to check in which was generous and appreciated. The room was cold and the hot water took 4-5 minutes to show up in the shower and sink. The outside of the property seemed run down, but we slept well.
Very basic and modest room, with a very nicely remodeled bathroom. Convenient location to downtown, and a real throw back to the hotels of the fifties.

Pretty no-frills place but our room was very clean and seemed to be recently updated. It was very quiet, mainly because we seemed to be the only people there on a mid-December Friday night. Totally worth the price.

The motel room appeared relatively clean but still looks worn out as the whole building does.. The heater unit is too noisy to sleep with on and the water flow from the sink and shower are barely average. For a few dollars more I think I could’ve found something better, I probably won’t stay here again.

Sorry to hear that but we have no control over a water flow that comes from utility company and about the noise of the heating unit the wall heating unit it will make noise because it’s not a central air
The owner was very friendly. The room was clean. I would suggest that a bit more landscaping would brighten up the motel’s appearance. The room could use 1 comfortable chair, a floor lamp, and maybe at least I picture on the wall.

Small but very clean rooms in an older motel that is nothing fancy on the outside but does have a pool and is next door to Morning Glory, the best breakfast in Ashland. Not downtown but just minutes away from the Shakespeare fest. We'll be back!
