"Well worth the short walk from the train station, Yak &Yeti has quiet, comfortable rooms above a friendly restaurant. I didn't eat dinner there, but the food smelled delicious (and they do have vegan options.) My vegan breakfast was amazing, with crisp vegetables accompanying the hash browns, sausages and mushrooms. A large cup of good coffee and a full glass of orange juice made it well worth the £10.99. I will definitely return. The team running the place were lovely, with a real family vibe"

"This is less a hotel, and more rooms above (a very good real ale) pub, which was one on the reasons we took a punt on the place, and we weren’t disappointed. Very good value for money, we had a standard room which was a decent size and a good en suite. Housekeeping was really good every day. Well situated just off the main drag, less than 10 mins walk from station and pretty much everywhere in Shrewsbury. It may not be to everyone’s taste, it’s a very old building and there isn’t any lift access, and beware if you are a light sleeper as every noise and bump can be heard so take some ear plugs 😀 Also, a bit lacking in storage space. But there’s always a bit of give and take when ‘character’ is involved. They don’t do breakfast- which we knew in advance and didn’t eat there, but the ale is great! And you get 10% off if you’re staying. Would definitely recommend."

"We got what we paid for at the Tumbledown: we needed an affordable place close to the station that was accessible for a member of our party with mobility restrictions. It answered on both of these, but visitors should not expect rooms to be fancy. All absolute necessities were provided, and from our rooms on the second floor we did not hear any noise from the bar on the ground level. The fixtures felt more like a college dorm or retreat house than a hotel: very basic but absolutely functional. The staff might need to pay a little more attention to detail, since when we checked in, the coffee and tea items had not been refreshed since being used by the previous occupants of our rooms. But the rooms were painted cheerful colors, and when we asked at the bar to have some more teabags, we received them. Overall, we were satisfied."

"Excellent countryside hotel located in a historic rustic Manor House with good facilities and parking and only 15 minutes away from Shrewsbury town centre. My room was clean with lovely antique furniture and countryside view and had a decent size for a single person although other rooms appear bigger on the map and on photos. Reception staff were very helpful and kind! Highly recommended."
