“Brilliant base for a Manhattan break”

This was our first trip to NY so I was not too sure where to stay, this hotel already had really good reviews so we took a punt on it. We met some Americans on the plane on the way over who told us some horror stories about the surrounding area (Jamaica), which worried us a little. This proved to be unfounded, we were sensible and did not walk the streets in the middle of the night, but we felt safe enough to go to the nearby McDOnalds and Wendy's (just accross the street!). The subway is literally 100 yards down the road (the 'E' line) and the train stopped everywhere we had planned to go. It took about 30 mins to get to 5th Ave, 45 mins to Ground Zero. We had a brilliant time and the hotel was ideal, the staff where very friendly and always happy to help. the room was cleaned every day and the bed was very comfy. The 42" plazma TV was a nice touch too! Breakfast was basic but more than enough, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit and dough nuts! I would definately recommend the hotel (It was more like a Travel Lodge) to any one planning a visit to NY and not wanting to pay Manhattan prices!

“Good budget hotel”

V clean hotel with polite staff. It is 30 minutes from Manhatten but the metro station is very close and the metro is cheap.

“Excellent Hotel”

Good free breakfast every morning - cereals, toast, bagels, fruit, dougnuts aswell as tea, coffee, orange & apple juice. Lovely room, very comfy with big tv. Metro very near, 1 min walk away. Fast food places opposite too.

“Excellent hotel, shame about the area”

We stayed at this hotel, as a family member had been rushed to hospital from JFK airport so it would not have been my first choice to stay in Queens rather than Manhattan. To be fair though the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The area isn't great but a short train journey into Forest Hills (or a 10 min cab ride away) is a different story, lovely looking shops and very nice restaurants. Alternatively Manhattan is only a 30 minute train journey away. I wouldn't choose to stay in Queens again, but this was a family emergency and were very lucky in finding this gem of a hotel.

“new, clean, free breakfast, near airport and subway...”

what more could you need? It's not centrally located and there isn't any shopping, but that's where the subway comes in handy. It's brand new, staff we're friendly, a good room with comfy bed... fluffy towels.

“Very convenient”

Good value for NY, convenient location to airport (10-15 mins in cab and subway 2 blocks from hotel to ride into manhatten. Although the Subway talkes about 30 minutes to mid town manhatten it's cheap and with a book in hand not to tedious, (and after walking round Manhatten all day quite a nice rest on the way home !)

“Good price-quality ratio”

The hotel is conveniently located for JFK and much better than one could expect from the area. Rooms not too big and too furnished - hardly any room to move! Clean and new, great breakfast. Only disappointed by ice dispenser - very noisy and turns on during the night!

“Decent, comfortable hotel”

A nice hotel, with comfy bed and free wifi. The staff were very efficient. The room was acceptably clean, but not perfectly so.

“Good location for a night or two, unprofessional Front Desk staff!!!”

The hotel room is very clean and the evening reception staff was very helpful. It's a great location if you need to catch a flight from JFK the next morning. However, I had a little surprise on my departure day. I checked out in the early morning hours and the reception staff did not mention about my $50.00 cash deposit (I rather leave deposits than handing over my credit card details when travelling). The morning staff was neither cooperative nor professional in handeling this situation when I called them up to report this issue. Since I was already checked in to my flight I couldn't go back. The Reception Manager on duty didn't do a thing to resolve the problem and he made me feel that it was only my mistake that this problem occured. His response was, that they will keep the money, full stop. I feel that $50.00 is a too gracious tip, especially when the Reception Manager didn't do his job as he was supose to do!!!
