“views of the olympic stadium and kapoor intallation”
the hotel is in the heart of the London Olympic project. So dynamic times as this area receives a major development uplift with good frequent links to the city centre by bus (1 hour) and rail (15mins). The hotel has beautifully kept and quiet rooms at the rear overlooking the Oympic Park. The breakfast is varied but the cook section requires a little quality upgrading. Parking is available both inside the hotel and free on the street until 8:00hrs. Beware of parking attendants swooping thereafter.
“Would definitely stay here again”
We chose this hotel as we were combining a London sightseeing trip with going to a concert at the o2 arena. This hotel is within a few minutes walk of Stratford station (and the excelent Westfield centre for the shopaholics!) which has direct links to much of the city and the o2 making it perfect for us. Overall the hotel was superb. Beds were extremely comfortable (although on the soft side compared to what I'm used to) and the choice of soft and firm pillows was a great touch. Breakfast was great with a good choice of hot and cold food. Staff were extremely helpful and on busy mornings, even the manager chipped in and helped clear away breakfast trays - great to see. My only real (minor) criticism was that the although the choice of up lighters and bedside lamps in the room was great as 'mood' lighting for relaxing, and it would have been nice to have option of brighter lights for reading as the lighting was somewhat on the dim side. Other than that, I have no complaints and consider this hotel great value for money.
“Pleasing stay”
There was 3 of us staying at the hotel in 1 room, it was very clean & the staff were very friendly & efficient. The only down side was the breakfast was very unorganised.
“ideal for weekend visit to east london”
ideal for weekend visit to london especially for east london area. 5 mins walk from tube & bus stop right outside. stratford shopping centre nearby too. breakfast times good - as doesnt finish too early!
“Clean, reasonable, adequate”
Although this hotel is not a "five minutes walk" from the station, it is a reasonable walk and can be done with no stairs, if you don't take the back short-cut. You can pull your own bags from the station or take a £5 cab ride. You can easily access all trains and tube lines from this station so that was very handy. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. Spartan but reasonable. The staff is virtually all non-English speaking, but that is to be expected in London. Breakfast is OK provided you avoid the congealed eggs and greasy bangers. There is no bacon. Internet access is additional and expensive. Avoid it if you can. You can get free wireless access in several area restaurants. Because of the upcoming Olympics, construction is constant and goes on 7 days a week. Avoid booking a "standard" room if you don't want a handicapped room. There is a shopping center close by with a cinema and a good pizza restaurant. Because this is in zone 4, the underground rates will be expensive. But not as expensive as staying in a zone 2 hotel. Overall, this was an OK experience. No charm but clean and perfectly adequate.
“Stay at Holiday Inn Express”
Very handy for Westfield and for the Olympic Stadium, I will be staying there again as I am a volunteer for the London Olympics
“Good for all travellers”
Nice, friendly hotel to stay at, especially for events around the area (London Excel and Olympic Stadium). Only a few minor faults though, like there being no physical bar of soap in the bathroom (usually other places have small, packaged ones) and breakfast was a little lackluster. Still, nice place to stay at!
“London marathon saturday night”
as we were staying in London purely for the marathon we only stayed one night, the hotel rooms and facilities were perfectly adequate, the rooms and general appearance of the hotel was good and the counter staff were very friendly.
“Highly recommended - clean and friendly”
Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself looks to have been recently refurbished. Pricey, but considering the location it was worth every penny for our recent visit to the Olympic park.
“Convenient for Olympic Stadium and Shopping Centre”
I booked the Holiday Inn Express for the night of the Technical Rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. It's location was ideal, a short walk to the Westfield centre and the Olympic Stadium. I booked a family room, as my daughter and grandchildren were with me to sight-see in London for two days. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming and helpul, the breakfast was more than adequate. All in all a very pleasant stay, a sound night's sleep and an excellent beginning to our second day's excursions. I would recommend it.
