We stayed at the Ohla Hotel in September and were welcomed with a lovely glass of cava on check in and also received a complimentary bottle of cava in our room. The hotel is well located in the old town and it's easy to get to any where you want to go. We had a room on the 6th floor which was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable so no trouble sleeping! Unfortunately I had a bad cold so we didn't get chance to experience the restaurant and the hotel fully but the breakfasts were excellent.
My husband was unfortunate and had his wallet stolen. The Concierge couldn't have been more helpful, reporting the theft for us and processing the police statement. I would like to thank him and the rest of the staff who helped us. We will not hesitate to stay again!
This hotel is fantastically located across from the cathedral. Busy during the day, quiet (but not scary quiet) at night. I had a terrace overlooking the cathedral square, which was huge. Bigger than many hotel rooms I have stayed in. The room itself was OK. Tub with jets was a nice surprise. But the furniture seemed a bit dated and a coffee machine would have been great. Also the TV had no English channels and a small screen relative to the distance between the TV and the bed. Then again, you're in Barcelona, get out and enjoy!
It's a nice hotel and I would come back in a heartbeat if just for the terrace and the prime location
You get what you pay, we all know that- but it this case for a cheap hostel we had a very comfortable stay. It was clean and tidy with friendly staff plus a little bit of free breakfast. I would go back and am happy to recommend as decent accommodation on a budget.
"FABULOUS hotel! Would stay again in a heartbeat!!"
I visited this hotel with a few friends and loved it! The location, across from the Boqueria Market, is unbeatable. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The rooms are small, but very modern, extremely clean and comfortable. The staff are amazing, extremely friendly and helpful. They helped us with our bags on the stairs, offered great recommendations and directions and were generally friendly and helpful whenever we needed assistance. I would recommend to anyone!
We arrived at the Mercer Hotel for a 5 night stay to celebrate my birthday and to see the sights of Barcelona. Neither of us had been to Barcelona before and were hoping that we had chosen the right area in which to stay. We were not disappointed. Set right in the middle of the Gothic Quarter surrounded by quaint streets and nooks and crannies! From the minute that we arrived the Staff were attentive and helpful and our room was ready, always a bonus. We loved our room, comfortable, large, and in a quiet part of the hotel. We were soon out and about and found all sorts of squares, cafes, restaurants, and bars, and of course, we were close to La Ramblas and shops. Regarding praise for the staff ,We would especially like to mention Florencia, who certainly went the extra mile, and Juan Manuel and the bar staff upstairs by the pool bar where we stopped each evening before retiring. Also we appreciated the special attention on my birthday!
We recently stayed at the Neri with a couple of friends and were given adjoining rooms. The hotel is tucked away, a small little boutique hotel in the Gothic centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. The entrance hall was very impressive, the bedrooms were lovely and the beds were some of the most comfortable we've ever slept on in hotel rooms. The balconies off our rooms were a nice surprise. The roof top bar is a great little space where you can start or end your evening and we were even brought up some wine out of their usual opening hours when we asked for it. The location is very central, with everything pretty much within walking distance. We found the hotel offered excellent service and accommodation for a reasonable price and we would definitely stay there again, should we plan another trip to Barcelona.
We had a fantastic time in Barcelona due in part to the location of this room! We stayed in the middle of the old city and everything you need for a relaxing holiday was within walking distance! Toni was very nice and chatty on arrival though we did have to wait for her as we arrived around an hour earlier than our checkin time, however she got there very quickly after I phoned. She drew us a map of the typical tourist locations and told us lots of info about the area, and the room and where to avoid going at night which felt like she was trying to scare us sometimes - both helpful and worrying! The room was cleaned everyday and bedding and towels replaced and even pots washed!. I did expect the room to be bigger from the pictures but it was more or less square. Small bathroom but we managed to utilise it just fine. Also, just a warning, if you were expecting a balcony to sit out on like us you will be disappointed as the chairs in the room just don't quite fit - we were also advised not to use the roof terrace as this is where the cleaner hangs washing etc. so that's off limits too despite being advertised. The kitchen had all of the necessary equipment to cook a meal for two though we only really used the fridge and kettle! We grew to like to room for what it was and that's mainly just a bed for the night. It seemed very safe at all times.
We needed a place for a few hours before a flight, so just quickly reserved based on location without checking reviews. Big mistake. Awful place, the bathroom is shared with eight rooms and has a tiny shower that you can't even fit into. Great Mexican place downstairs though........
This comfortable apartment is in a building of high ceilings, very characteristic of the classic constructions of Barcelona …More
