"Perfect to avoid the crowd!"
The rooms are just amazing, huge, nicely setup, we had a top floor with laguna & sea view which really made it the perfect place to stay. The staff is really there for you, helping, smiling, not pushy like in many other places, you feel at ease. Matthieu (from the hotel) did give us a lot of info so that we could make a good use of our time there, we rented a scooter directly at the hotel to get around and for a good price (if you want a car, rent it from known agencies, would be half the price compare to hotel and they can drop it at the hotel, or get one at the airport). The hotel only has 40+ rooms and were at the end of the peak season, so we did appreciate the quietness of the place and the beach which is now empty of any restaurants (destroyed by local authorities) , which makes the beach just a beach, secluded, really nice. The food choice is somehow limited, maybe because there were restaurants around not so long ago, but still very good, and not too expensive for such an hotel, there're free shuttles with nearby restaurants otherwise or you can have a walk to Tony's place where you can eat and have a cheap beer by the sea. I recommend also the nearby beach Surin (20min max by bicycle available for free at the hotel) which has a good selection of cheap beach facing restaurant. Patong beach by scooter is a good 30min away, touristic, crowded, not what we were looking for anyway, hence Bangtao beach being a right place for a quiet gateway in Phuket.
