"This property was as traditional as it gets. Two Onsens to bath in. Each have separate times for men and women. Provide multicourse dinner that was as traditional as you can get. The breakfast was multiple items and also a classic meal. Very good. Room didn’t have a view but it had traditional tea set up along with kimonos to wear and traditional bedding. We were there only one night so it wasn’t a big deal to not have a view. Staff was very kind and tried to be of help. We got a shuttle ride up...

"We loved our stay at chalet Shiga. Skiing was fantastic. The people at the chalet treated us very well, lovely authentic japenese food and setting. The location is perfect, at the bottom of ichinose. We went at the start of spring season, which did mean some of the slopes were closed, and the buses were limited. Something to be aware of. But, there was still plenty of fluffy white stuff, lifts and slopes. We didn't need to go see the snow monkeys - they came to see us 😀"

"He gave us drive to the snow monkey park which saved so much time and energy! Appreciate a lot! There is one private onsen which was the right size for two people. And could stay there as much as we wanted without reservation. There are two more public onsen too but we did not use this time. Staffs were all so kind and nice, will definitely want to stay here if I want ryokan again in nagano!"

"This was the perfect place to stay to ho see the Snow Monkey. Excellent staff, clean, comfortable hotel just down the hill from the train station and bus stop. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this hotel. "

"We stayed in this hotel while visiting Nagano prefecture in early December. The rooms are in a more traditional style with paper sliding doors, tatami mat floors and Yukata supplied for guests to wear during their stay. It has free parking which is valuable in a small town like this and having a car allows you to travel further out easier however decent train and bus services are also available I'm told. "Clean, quiet & a very cute location without tourists and crowds. My family enjoyed the serenity after spending 2 days in Tokyo and very close to snow monkey park allowing us to be the first ones there. Def recommend!!"
