Excellent stay

Our stay at Smugglers Inn was excellent there was a bit of noise on the first night with staff chatting till the early hours, but second night was very peaceful. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely rooms with big open windows. Nice view. Staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. They even found me real milk instead of the dreaded UHT milk. Shower was and plentiful after a days walking. Smuggles inn is about 1km from bus stop through farmers paddock. Food was awesome especially the breakfast provided

Ideal location for walking along coastal paths and going on beach.Ice jugs of tap water replenished on request,comfy beds and rooms very clean.However parking on arrival was a nightmare,no allocated parking spaces for residents,no seating area in pub specifically reserved for residents .Menu for Sunday evening dining restricted as a third of menu they had ran out of food !! and could of gone somewhere else .Waitress for evening meal appeared harassed and was rude therefore no tip was left.

We have been here many times but this time we decided to stay and I'm glad we did. It was my partner's birthday and I wanted it to be special and they helped with that. They upgraded us to a better room they provided her with a bottle of prosecco and they even took care of our breakfast. Throughout the stay I couldn't have been happier so a big thankyou goes to all the staff.

Nice pub/hotel with new rooms, although overpriced

Nice, friendly pub/hotel. Good condition in general but with a few small issues that could be improved. No lightbulb in one of the lamps, kettle not descaled, fan in bathroom not working and window right above the outdoor seating so quite noisy because the rooms were very warm and window needed to be kept open. Pub food was fine and breakfast quality okay. Had the room been £120 a night, would have been good value but actually was £200, albeit using Tesco vouchers, so only paid taxes. Had it been cash, I would have felt it was very over-priced! Overall, very pleasant although overpriced.

The Smugglers Inn was delightful. The staff were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Food was excellent, we had dinner there which was really good (advise booking it was full when we were there), and breakfast was great. Delicious choice of different fresh croissants, and fruit and cereal options. Full menu with lots to choose from for cooked breakfast, we had the full english which was scrummy and filling. Room was really nicely decorated, and everything you needed. Big tele! Extensive choice of different tea, coffee and hot chocolate options, and cans of water. Really nice toiletries in the bathroom. Great rainfall shower. Only slight negative was that the room was a quite warm after a hot day, even with the window open. Difficult to know what they could do to help with that in such a lovely old building, have a fan maybe? I couldnt take a star off for it though as it was too nice not to be 5 star! Great spot for a rest after a hard day's walking on the stunning jurassic coast.
