Nice hotel on the hill in Wellington. There is a service/VIP elevator that takes you to the lowest level of the hotel, which means less downhill walking to get into town.

It had unexpected little touches in the main communal areas: morning/afternoon tea, choc fountain at night, smelt relaxing. However the rooms were small and we were advised our room was a executive king but was in fact a standard twin. Shower was roomy, toiletries smelt refreshing, not keen on glass bathroom door for a twin set up

We enjoyed our time at Movenpick! Conveniently located while being out of the way of city traffic. We dined at the restaurant for dinner and the food/drinks were delicious. Staff were always very helpful. Chocolate Hour was especially appreciated after a long day of seeing the sites in Wellington. The only downside was the size of the room (most basic option) was smaller than expected from pictures and staying on the lower floors meant that we didn’t get to experience the beautiful views as much as we would have liked. But overall we enjoyed our time at the Movenpick!

Overall property was nice. Booked a room that was photographed having a bath and only had a small bathroom with shower. Also walls to neighbouring room were paper thin and could clearly hear neighbours conversation

The reception area is lovely, clean and welcoming however, beyond the lifts is a different story. The room we were given first by the conference rooms was dark and dingy. Then suddenly we were moved ‘upgraded’ to the top floor. This room was bigger but not the cleanest and quite tired in appearance. The bed was comfortable and everything worked ok but the fan in the bathroom was noisy all night and the wind rattled through the air con vents. Staff were friendly enough. We had no qr code to scan for room service and it took 2 phone calls to get menus up to the room and the food, when it arrived was barely hot. We wouldn’t stay here again.

An excellent stay
Booked the suite for our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed but actually pleasantly surprised. From the valet parking service to the lightning fast check-in; the chocolate hour at the lobby to the excellent dinner at the restaurant. The classy accommodation and amenities, the facilities such as the swimming pool, sauna, and gym. All in all, I can't fault the place, the team, nor the quality. During check-in, the reception team casually asked what brought us to town and I mentioned that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Next thing we know, the restaurant team bringing complementary desserts with 'Happy anniversary' written in chocolate to finish off our excellent dinner that night. Truly thoughtful and completely took us by surprise. Thank you Team! If there is ONE thing that I would mention which may be considered 'against' staying at the Movenpick then it would be it's rather 'far' from the CBD; and while the almost 1.5Km walk to Lambton Quay is certainly doable, factor in the walk back, walking or heading to certain places within the CBD, and carrying shopping back and some people may find the distance a bit too much for their liking. A car should remedy this nicely though. Certainly the place to stay whenever we're in town again
