Sinclairs Darjeeling

10/10 Excellent

"Sinclair's is an older, well-maintained, and attractive property, with beautiful views of Kanchenjunga. The street leading up to it is steep, and then are stairs leading up to the hotel and more to the rooms (no lift), so you need to be all right with that. (We're over 70 and had no problem.) The staff is lovely and go out of their way to help you. I'd single out Bragya--I hope I have her name right--for exceptional service, helping us find a taxi to Bagdogra at a heavily touristed festival time. The restaurant serves excellent food, including an ample and varied breakfast spread--and the staff is attentive. Our room was spacious and served our needs perfectly. We hope we'll return next year, and I've heard there's talk of a lift coming!"

"Hotel location was hard to find, lady staff was rude to my driver and unhelpful, we wasted quite a lot of time driving up and down on holly and narrow street, my driver even hit the back of his 4x4car. Not until I called and personally spoke to the hotel again then they sent a staff to our lost location and showed us the way to the hotel. The staff was very helpful and polite so was the gentleman owner was very welcoming. I’d a good but short sleep as has to leave at 3.40 for Tiger hill. The gentleman owner and his staff kindly assist me to my next driver of the day."

"It is a heritage hotel in keeping with bygone times. Super close to the mall. Lovely dining room for dinner with fireplace and candlelit. Food was terrific with alot of choices. Buffet bfast but you can request eggs how u like. Some renovation works currently but all staff and workmen encountered always super polite and helpful beyond . If I were to go back to darjeeling I would definitely stay here. ...the drive from bagdogra to darjeeling is an experience in itself."

"Sterling Darjeeling is a great place to stay for a trip to the area. The location is much better than anything close to the mall. You can avoid all the traffic and noise of central Darjeeling. Views of the valley and surround mountains are great. The staff is very helpful. If you’re traveling from the airport, you will get to the property much faster (hours) than any place close to the mall because of all the traffic even though it’s only a few kilometers away. I would highly recommend Sterling Darjeeling."

"The staff were great. The location was perfect and close to main Darjeeling mall. The floors in the room and multiple junctions in the lobby area are uneven which may cause discomfort and extra attention especially for elderly people."
