Lovely, welcoming pub. Really good food and bedroom warm and comfortable after a cold day of racing at Wincanton ! Staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good with great choice. Will be back!

Wonderful stay - 5 stars! Stunning room perfect for a family of 5, fully stocked with fresh milk, water and tea, hot chocolate and coffee. A fantastic breakfast too, highly recommended

Excellent family stay

Excellent family stay. Highly recommended. Our only down side comment, the family room could do with an opening window, but as the room was so big, we coped with it. The Crown has a very interesting historical past.

Would be nice to have a non-Hall and Woodhouse guest beer and a real cider. Otherwise excellent place to stay and eat. Would definitely visit again.

We had a very comfortable room for one night. The staff were very welcoming. We had dinner in the pub which was nice, but not exceptional. Breakfast was lovely although you had to decide the night before what you were going to eat.

"The Crown in Sturminster Newton is a true gem of a village pub! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm and friendly atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The evening vibe is absolutely fantastic, with the perfect mix of lively energy and cozy comfort. The food is nothing short of amazing—every dish is prepared with care and full of flavor. On top of that, the service is exceptional, with staff who go above and beyond to make your experience special. I can't wait to return to this wonderful pub—it's a standout spot in a charming village!"

Staff was helpful and the room was fantastic. Dinner and breakfast were fine. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the hotel, but there was an absolute terrible stench outside when we arrived, it could actually still be smelled in the room. It eventually died down but never went away

Comfortable stay on hot day!

We had a delightful stay at The Crown - the dinner menu & food in the pub was fantastic, the chickens on site in the pub garden entertained our little boys, the room was huge, comfortable and spotlessly clean with lovely touches such as milk and cold water in the fridge, a fan to keep us all cool (was a very hot day and night!), bath salts and excellent toiletries. The only negatives were overcooked poached eggs at breakfast, the fast road right outside being rather loud, and the TV Freeview was tricky to work and had a very slow remote which didn’t help. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Pleasant stay in country on

A pleasant stay in an attractive country pub The room was spacious and thoughtfully decorated. The bed comfortable. The food was good especially the breakfast. It is in a pretty village good for walking outside. Plenty of parking. Would like to see double glazing on the windows as right by a road. However this isn’ta problem at night as very quiet and peaceful. The room was exceptional with vaulted beams and chandeliers. A lovely bathroom with pleasant toiletries but the shower shelf on the edge of the bath needs attention as it is worn and needs repainting. Overall a lovely experience.

Work Stay

This was my second stay at The Crown at Harnhill, and once again, it did not disappoint! From the moment I arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that everything was perfect throughout my stay. The room was comfortable, well-kept, and had all the little touches that make a stay extra special. A good night’s sleep was guaranteed with the cozy bed and peaceful surroundings. The food was another highlight! I started with the scampi and pork crackling, and let’s be honest—who can say no to pork crackling? Both were absolutely delicious, perfectly crispy, and packed with flavor. My main was just as impressive, and breakfast the next morning was amazing. I had the Eggs Benedict, which was cooked to perfection, and the ham was to die for—so full of flavor and beautifully prepared. It’s clear that The Crown at Marnhill prides itself on excellent service and high-quality hospitality. I’ll definitely be returning again in the future. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
