Staff were helpful, however, there were several issues with the room. We expected the room to be noisy due to the location, however, do not expect to sleep unless you have ear plugs. The secondary glazing is so old and poorly sealed that there is a lot of sound bleed. One of our sash windows was also impossible to fully close. The shower room had quite obvious mould along the inside wall, so it doesn't look like it has been fully cleaned in a while. Other than that, there were minor issues with missing tea bags, shower gel and poor wifi.

Great base for exploring the town, staff were friendly and the room was clean and tidy with good facilities. You can hear the bar music whilst it's open, but nothing you wouldn't expect from this sort of accomodation and the street noise was much quieter than expected, being slightly off the main pub drag. Would highly recommend for staying a couple of nights. Loads of great places to eat nearby so not really an issue not having a breakfast option.

Location was fantastic and Shrewsbury was such a delight! The room itself was quite tired - it took us a long time to even open the shower in the bathroom as it was stuck, and the carpet leading into the bedroom was really frayed. The worst thing was the noise. The room is literally next to a bar terrace and the noise from downstairs in the pub also really carries. Getting to sleep before midnight is therefore pretty tough - after that though the bed was really comfortable and we slept well.

Great stay, great room, great value-we’d go again However, upon our return to the pub at night, the front door had the latch on and therefore our key didn’t work. Luckily, the staff were still in the pub and we could just knock on the window, but if we’d been half an hour later, I don’t know how we’d have got into the room

Seems to be recovering under new management. Good old building but jazzed up a bit too much in bar and needs to be taken back to the historic look it realy is. They do not do breakfast so went to Mondi Cafe (excellent) . The food in this pub the night before was however excellent so actually worth eating there

Lovely weekend away in Shrewsbury and really pleased with the Cromwell's Tap! Lovely clean, character rooms with genuinely friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant and the meal was quality and very tasty. We did overhear other diners say they regularly travel to eat there. A great central location and one we hope to stay at again soon 😊

Hi just used the room while staying over night as we had a meal booked somewhere else , the rooms are over the pub so can be noisy late afternoon til closing time , we went to bed 11 ish and it was ok on the sat eve

Hotel is in an excellent location near the railway station and main shopping centre.Many places of interest, including museum and art gallery, indoor market, castle and river are all in easy walking distance. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating and evening meal was delicious.Room was warm, clean and spacious.Would have been nice to have breakfast included,but a good recommendation was offered.I would recommend this hotel.

Great experience and the room was clean and bed very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only one tiny negative was a lack of hanging spaces for clothes. However I would definitely recommend it.

Excellent stay
We had a great stay. The hotel is in a brilliant location and the room was great value for money. The staff were super accomodating and the food was incredible. Would recommend and would happily stay again.

The staff were very friendly and the room was decent. We had two rooms and both rooms did not have any hot water for showers and such.

Nice location, small but cosy and adequate room, value for money. Bar was nice, good atmosphere. Bar manager could work on his diplomacy skills but didn't take away from the overall stay.

We had an enjoyable stay midweek fir one night. We found the hotel very pleasant and had booked two rooms, slightly different in layout but both very homely. We were emailed by the hotel prior to our stay regarding the best places to park and costs which was particularly helpful as shrewsbury is very interwoven and a tad difficult to navigate at first. We were promptly checked in. Informed of the rooms and functions and although we decided against. We were told that if we wanted a meal we could be accomodated despite a xmas party which was nice. The staff were friendly, the drinks were lovely and discounted too boot. The rooms were comfortable and warm and we enjoyed iur stay. Would stay again no problem.

It is a very nice pub downstairs, but it is very noisy in the room - especially volume from the pub. Road traffic is quite noisy also - but to be expected in a hotel in the middle of town. Room had all the facilities, but watch your head and the room was very small.

Staff incredibly helpful. Really nice tudor interior and exterior. Definitely worth staying here. There is a pub downstairs but on the night we visited, Monday, it was closed downstairs by 10pm, so quiet - though you do hear the traffic outside.
