"Our overall impression of this hotel is poor. On the positive side, the location is excellent and very convenient for getting around. Breakfast is acceptable, with a reasonable selection, and the staff in the breakfast area are friendly and welcoming. However, the overall condition of the hotel feels tired and in need of investment. While reception staff are polite at check-in, there is limited engagement beyond that. The room doesn’t quite match expectations from the advertised photos, particularly those showing sea views. Our window has metal screws in the frame to prevent it from opening too far, the curtains are noticeably sun bleached, and there are maintenance issues such as a leaking bath and damaged plaster. We also suspect the room may previously have accommodated pets, as my husband, who has mild allergies, experiences some discomfort with his asthma during the stay. When we request an iron and ironing board, these arrive without a cover for the board, so we have to improvise by using a towel. Another point to note is the £10 per day charge for on-site parking, which is limited and feels cheeky given you’re already paying for the room. Overall, you can see that this hotel was likely excellent in its prime and still has potential, but at present it feels like it would benefit from some significant refurbishment."

"The hosts were great, very friendly and gave great recommendations on local travel opportunities. The room was very comfortable; both the beds and showers among our favorites at locations we stayed in Scotland. Breakfast was delicious as well. Would stay here again and highly recommend it."

"Hotel was beautiful and included breakfast was good. If you want to eat there, reserve your table way ahead of time - restaurant is small for the hotel size and they only serve dinner for 2 hours each night. Lighted mirror didn't work and the pump marked "lotion" was filled with hand soap instead, but otherwise excellent. Oh, there were no outlets by the bedside tables, we both use cpap devices and had to borrow extension cords from the front desk which they did have available thankfully."

"Room could do with a lick of paint. Beds very comfortable had a great sleep. Breakfast brilliant and plenty of it. We had a bar meal on the second day,again the food was exceptional. Parking no problem. Staff very attentive. The hotel is a 10 minute walk off the main street, so wonderful and quiet. They have a large grassed area with benches within staggering distance of the bar. Perfect sun trap. Will definitely be back"

"Simple check in process, in a lovely lobby with a great wee bar and breakfast area. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, well equipped, clean, and most importantly the shower was top notch. Honestly, difficult to fault especially given the location. We parked in the multi storey, which is about a 5 minute easy walk away. The dog charge, which was £20 per dog per stay stung a little for our one day stay, but the free dog treats and towels were a great touch. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. "
