This hotel would have been very grand in her day, but is showing her age. The rooms are huge, but room amenities sparse and towels and yukata are old. It’s primarily used for large groups to use the onsen I think, rather than a luxurious stay. The breakfast dining room is large, as is the hotel, but having breakfast with another 200 or 300 people wasn’t all that pleasant. The rooms have no USB charging ports, and power outlets are few and low to the ground. The view from the hotel is beautiful and amazing and the 16th floor onsen also has beautiful views. For a 2 night stay it was adequate and the price was good.

The rooms have excellent view but a bit dusty. Food was good but the same menu everyday, so there’s nothing to look forward to. Rotating meals every 3-4 days would be nice.

Outdated hotel rooms but great onsen

Great for onsen. Rooms outdated, with windows very old causing inside water and fungus. Dinner options (including half board) is worth the money

Family trip for swimming and hot springs

They have a few hot springs that you can enjoy at different time. The water lagoons is very big and enough water slides suitable for kids. The room is spacious and clean with bathroom , fridge and hot water pot as standard Japanese hotel room. The breakfast is excellent with fresh seafood sashimi. Compared with dinner is just good, variety choice but not as many as fresh seafood sashimi and fruits provided . Easy parking with larger parking slot right next to the hotel.

Great stay and facilities, with renovation needs.

Family trip with 2 kids. A bit worn down room and facilities, but perfectly clean and with everything you need. The onsen was great, however parts of it was closed due to maintenence. The Lagoon pool area was well made and appreciated by the kids, with areas both for the very small ones and the bit older. Not many restaurants around, so advice is to book dinner at the hotel. There are two convenience stores walking distance away.

We stay here every few years and generally have good experiences. In the past it was packed with Chinese tourists but this time there were noticeably fewer. There was a junior high trip which made dinner/breakfast a little more chaotic but I’ve chaperoned that type of trip before and didn’t notice the kids were badly behaved or anything. The food was delicious and the room, while old, was clean. My biggest complaint is with the pools. One was closed and the other one limits the people that use almost all the slides and such to kids 120 cm and under. My 11 year old was pretty bored with nothing to do at the pool. They also used to have free rafts to float on, but no more. Some of the onsen were also under construction but there was still plenty of space. Could have dealt without the old Chinese ladies’s manners in the onsen but I don’t blame the hotel for that. Enjoyed checking out Shiroito waterfall (didn’t realize how close it was). Overall a good stay but not sure we will be back since next time my 7 year old will also be too big for all the pool activities. Price has also increased a lot in the past few years.

Maybe okay for one night

The highlights were the location and the very good dinner and breakfast buffets. Otherwise it was underwhelming in all other respects. Hard beds and even harder pillows. Air conditioning is summer only so even though it was the beginning of October the bright Sun heated up the room to 90° f with the curtains closed. Some of the furniture was pretty beat up and the carpets rather worn. Did not use the mineral bath because the room was so hot it would have been incredibly uncomfortable.
