Seaside

Sit at a seafood restaurant overlooking the white-sand beaches and speak with friendly locals in the lively farmers market.

Seaside is a lively district on the Gulf of Mexico with a tranquil ambiance and friendly locals. It is known for both white-sand beaches that provide picturesque scenery and an artistic culture of theaters and galleries. Chat with business owners in the area to get a sense of the local culture.

Rent a bicycle to get around this scenic neighborhood or explore its attractions on foot. Purchase hot dogs and fresh juices from the array of vendors in food trucks and huts. Relax and enjoy the bohemian vibe in one of the quaint cafés. Many restaurants and bars flank the white, powdery beach, offering picturesque views of the Gulf of Mexico.

Dine on seafood from the region as you relax on the patio of one of the restaurants. Stay for the sunset, when the darkening hues of dusk begin to take hold of the red sky. You can also embark on a pleasant walk between the trees and snap photos of the openings in the vegetation that lead to the water. Have a picnic on the beach or in one of the district’s spacious green fields.

Browse the items for sale in the specialty market in the heart of the neighborhood. The local culture has an artistic side, shown by the range of studios and visiting theater troupes here.

Wander down the streets and admire the pastel shades of the charming façades of the homes. Notice the white post office. Local musicians and street performers frequently perform in this active hub. The farmers market also has a range of activities and intriguing local products.

Seaside is on the eastern flank of Grayton Beach State Park in northwestern Florida. Drive east from Fort Walton Beach for about 30 miles (50 kilometers) to reach the neighborhood. Visit other attractions in the area, such as Miramar Beach, Grayton Beach and Rosemary Beach.
